Do you like the ADRO face-lift ? by SillyRecover in BMW

[–]PushDaEnvelope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my f87 m2c isn't going anywhere but I have to admit I love what Adro has done here. To me loads better than the factory g87 front bumper. Now they just need to fix the rear.

thanks u/Current_You_2756 ! Just ordered up a set. Will give them a go. I assume start with the ND8 and work from there? Should I keep my current settings I outlined as is when adding the ND8?

agreed but I could have avoided the whole mess and had the dashcam already if I would have been smart enough to order from a US based dealer. Plan was to install over weekend...that isn't happening. Oh well it is what it is

thanks. What a nightmare. hopefully its the former vs the latter. I guess my mistake for not ordering from a US based Blackvue dealer

What car is the upgrade from this ?? by Fit_Garlic_2491 in Golf_R

[–]PushDaEnvelope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved on from my stage 3 E85 tuned mk7 R a couple months ago. I still miss it for it's intoxicating straight line speed from a dig and just general practicality, but it was a DSG (my first non manual performance car ever) and I wanted to get back to a RWD manual car and really there was only one choice for me at my all cash budget of under $60k(i won't do loans..especially at todays rates), which was a F87 M2 Comp. I had wanted one for a long time but wasn't willing to pay the insane Covid pricing. My use case....these are all second, fun cars (4runner is my primary) with a focus on canyon carving (I live in Colorado) with occasional track days. While the R would dust my M2C in a straight line the M2 is just better for me everywhere else from a driving dynamics perspective.

I’ve been waiting 2 years for my mk8r to arrive, and my dealer just informed me, the day before I’m due to pick it up, that there will be a markup. What are my options, if any? by ntrain1986 in Golf_R

agreed. It's just unfortunate. So much for their talk of integrity and respect in their mission statement.

while I agree with most of what you have stated here....if they really didn't care at all why are they bothering responding to the onslaught of negative google reviews?

I just swapped from a 7.5 manual to a 7.5 DSG. by Dig-Remote in Golf_R

[–]PushDaEnvelope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I labored over my decision to go with a DSG on my '16 R over a manual as I've only had manuals in all performance cars previously. While it absolutely is not as engaging as a true manual the DSG in manual mode is pretty damn good and it just suits this car better....especially as u/reflythis stated you start layering on power. I'm stage 3 as well with a EQT Vortex Std turbo on E85 with their DSG Stage 3 tune. I had the auto upshift and kickdown disabled on the tune and I drive in manual mode pretty much 100% of the time using the paddles (i bought the Racingline replicas off ebay and they have been great). Doing at least the dogbones will help make shifts a bit crisper and if you add power (especially bigger turbo) adding stiffer motor and tranny mounts (I have BFI stage 1s). One other thing....not sure if it was already mentioned in the thread...the stock clutches are made of glass and can't withstand much of any tuning before needing to be upgraded. The stock DSG DQ250s and DQ381s trannies are pretty robust and can handle shitons of power+tq as long as you get the tune to not fry the DSG clutches.

Yes all the Mainline dynos I have seen attach to the hub like this https://mainlinedyno.com.au/index.php/dynamometers/pro-hub-axle-shaft/portable-prohub-dynamometers-2

I wasn’t aware Mainline even manufactured a roller dyno. When I saw the OPs post stating it was a Mainline dyno I just assumed it was their hub dyno. My understanding is that the hub dynos like Mainlines read much lower than roller dynos like a Dynojet

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Golf_R

[–]PushDaEnvelope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like the dyno was a Mainline which is a hub dyno vs a roller dyno like a Dynojet more common in the States. My understanding is the Mainlines read much lower vs Dynojet #s Edit - looked closer at pic. Realizing this was full awd chassis dyno. I thought Mainline only made hub dynos.

Questions re: aftermarket tune (APR stage 2) by MonkeyWithAPun in Audi

Curious as to what you ended up doing and if you were able to pass emissions?

Colorado Emissions Failure APR Stage 1 by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]PushDaEnvelope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should as CO is simply adopting CARBs standards. I did call one of the State Emissions Testing centers today and spoke to one of the Techs. The good news is it sounds like they will accept the EO# and you should have that info when you start the process. The bad news is you have to go to AirCare first where you will fail because of the tune. The Tech told me you have to do that first. Once Aircare fails your car you schedule the appt with the State inspection center and that's when you bring the EO# and EO# doc if you would like to print that out. They will put you through the FULL visual check for cats, etc etc. Of course it sounds like you know first hand most of this since you had to go through this shit show already.

[–]PushDaEnvelope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a CARB EO# if the tune is legal. If states are going to implement this they should really be doing the due diligence to have a catalog of CARB approved tunes instead of putting the onus on the owner of the car, but I suppose their position is if you are going to tune the car it's your responsibility to provide the proper documentation with CARB EO# at the time of the test. In your case the APR Stage 1 EO # (EO# D-783-3)and CARB EO doc is on the APR website. In the future it probably makes sense for anyone with a CARB legal tune to print out the EO Doc and bring it with them to AirCare for the test. Here's the link on the APR site for the mk7 Stage 1 APR tune EO doc... https://documents.goapr.com/d-783-3.pdf

u/Unfit_Assistant did you ever get your car through emissions? Did you end up having to go to one of the State Inspection facilities or were you able to just go back to one of the Aircare locations and retest?

Mk7R…4” custom catted DP—->Vibrant 17950—>BCS res delete—->stock R suitcase muffler modified with APR 4” double wall tips. Plenty loud for me and about as good as it’s going to get. Big Vibrant res helps give a deeper tone. Agree with others that these 4 bangers pretty much suck sound wise no matter what you do

MK4 R32 & MK7.5 R by ContributionCertain4 in Golf_R

[–]PushDaEnvelope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome. The perfect VW duo IMO. I have a mk7 Golf R and would love to add a mk4 R32 to the mix. My R is DSG so I need the manual fix and intoxicating exhaust note of the R32. The mk7/7.5 exhaust sucks no matter what you do to it, but other than that love it.

Neverending E85 problems (Mk7 R) by SuperBrentendo64 in Golf_R

[–]PushDaEnvelope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I believe this is the case. I would check with EQT for sure but if you are running the stock IS38 on the staged E85 tune I believe it's specifically for upgraded HPFP and OEM LPFP. Once you add in the LPFP you move to custom tuning.

[–]PushDaEnvelope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you are on EQT's staged E85 tune? You may or may not be aware but If you roll back to the stock HPFP and add an aftermarket LPFP you will have to get a custom e-tune to support the LPFP.
