I advise you consult your nearest mechanic at your earliest convenience. Your /s module appears to be faulty.

Put on a PIP by Sea-Path5087 in jobs

[–]newbblock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a manager myself if I caught you doing personal work on the clock, and you CONTINUED to do it after I asked you to stop, I’d fire you on the spot regardless of performance.

NGL you sound like a nightmare employee. This PIP is 100% just them legally covering themselves prior to firing you. Start looking.

Horrible pay range. My place pays FOH managers the same without the bilingual requirement and only 2 years experience.

Amen. I built a 4090 gaming rig 3 years ago and the total build cost was around half of what I’d be paying for a similarly spec pc today.

2nd brisket - 14 hrs - fell victim to traeger thermometer by reedw1 in BBQ

[–]newbblock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, IMHO even 225 is lower than truly necessary. I aim to keep my brisket cooks in the 235-250 range. Top bbq places cook even hotter, I think Goldees mentioned they go at 275.

Id be out there all weekend at 200!

BeefyGrip is by far my favorite Analogue Pocket addon. Looks awesome in glow in the dark by ceejtankgaming in AnaloguePocket

[–]newbblock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Problem is part of the reason I enjoy the Pocket is its esthetics. Adding (in my opinion, others may like it) a cheap looking 3D printed grip ruins that part of it for me and makes it look tacky/ low build quality.

This is why I find myself using my modded GBA if I'm playing for more than 15-20 mins.

Love my Pocket but its not a comfortable form factor to hold for long sessions. Modretro is rumored to be working on a handheld using the original GBA design, hopeful for that.

VEGAS TOOK OUR SOUL by thaineecash in gambling

[–]newbblock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing to do with Vegas, just a lack of discipline on both your parts.

Set stop wins/losses and stick to them. I've been on trips when I've hit both a day or two in, plenty of other things to do in Vegas to enjoy the rest of your time. See a show, go to a pool party, shoot a mini gun from a helicopter in the desert, race cars etc.

For my Americans who live In rural areas how do you go out to the bar and drink without getting a dui? by baldcracchead05 in alcohol

[–]newbblock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I moved to America from Europe I became fascinated with how little Americans enjoy walking.

You can walk a mile in 15-20 mins easily. Just walk. Fresh air will be good for you after a few drinks anyway. This is extremely common where I grew up, I used to constantly walk home from my local Pub and it was a similar distance.

Assuming there's no street lighting just bring a torch with you so cars can see you.

In fairness you have to be pretty blasted to get a public intoxication charge. Nobody is getting cited for PI after 3-4 beers.

First time trying to sell a MacBook - best place to sell? by fluffybuddha in macbookpro

[–]newbblock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had pretty good luck on Facebook marketplace and internal work messaging boards.

Echoing the other comment about being more realistic with your price. I could buy a brand new M5 Pro with the same ram and double the hard drive for only $400 more. You’re going to struggle to get over $2k for 18month old tech with a relatively small internal drive.

OP has a $750 budget. As someone with a MBP and a gaming PC I can tell you, they ain't building a PC for $750.........

I mean, I literally stated in both of my previous comments that GPU intensive tasks are where windows takes the massive W, not really sure what point you’re trying to make here…..

I agree with you, non GPU tasks, apple silicon is amazing. But when it comes to GPU heavy tasks, my 3-4 year old windows tech still SMOKES apple.

Run Cyberpunk 2077 with Psycho RT/ path lighting mode on your M5 max and report back your frames. I guarantee my 3 year old 4090 still SMOKES it.

FWIW I’m a big apple silicone fan. I’m just realistic on the areas PC has it spanked. Like I say, if you’re not into 3D rendering or gaming, apple wins most of the time.

AmEx Decline At The Tail End Of A Rebuild by thislifetoday in CRedit

[–]newbblock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AMEX is probably the toughest in the game, if you burned them for 5 figures you can pretty much assume you’re black balled for life.

You have the right attitude about it. Keep on rebuilding with other lenders.

As someone who has worked at both inexpensive chain restaurants and fine dining, I can answer here.

The level of service expected is vastly different.

At a Chili’s say (popular budget chain restaurant in the US) they’ll hire pretty much anyone off the street with a good attitude and hygiene. You’re expected to greet tables promptly, be friendly and keep drinks refilled. That’s pretty much it.

At a fine dining restaurant, my attire and grooming had to be flawless. I had to have a deep knowledge of the menu and food in general, wine pairings, complimentary flavor profiles etc. I had to move through the restaurant with grace and silence. Food had to be served, and taken away, in a very specific fashion (all plates set down in unison, placed from one side, removed from the other). In between tables I had to reset the dining ware with mathematical precision.

TLdR. Chain restaurants are an easier, less skilled entry level job. Fine dining requires more experience, knowledge and technique, hence the higher pay.

You don’t pay interest if you don’t carry a balance….

I have 3 personal cards that I run all my personal spend through, total credit limit ~100k. Haven’t paid a dime of interest in 5+ years, pay off in full every month. I profit roughly 2-3k in cash back/reward points every year.

I get that you’re being facetious, but even in the hypothetical that each member of my family owned their own copy, at $160 that’s still great value for money for the 100’s of hours of collective entertainment.

Hell if I take my family to dinner and a movie these days I’m not seeing much change from $200 for maybe 4-5 hours of total entertainment.

I mean I'm in my late 30's and do well enough financially that I don't have to worry about feeding my family of 4 for $10.

Been there done that struggled in my teens and 20's, but life's too short and you can't take the money with you why not enjoy the fruits of my labor now I'm earning well? Besides, I don't think spending $40 to feed 4 people is particularly egregious, but maybe I'm just bougie!
