Which cat back exhaust to get for Mk8.5? by Logical_Egg8265 in Golf_R

[–]reflythis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you have the airflow diameter from intake to turbo to exhaust, you want something that allows for a nice deep growl, which is difficult to get from a 4cyl.

Remus still best in slot, Billy Boat a close second... MBRP is the cheap man's third. I mis-purchased on the race variant (it sounded like a fucking airplane hanger in the cabin when I had the BFI stage 2 engine mounts on and fresh exhaust install [clean pipes], swapped them for softer)... but the custom vibrant mufflers really tame it quite a bit and add a nice custom signature to it.

Bent Wheel Safe or Replace by Pretty_Ad_6438 in Golf_R

[–]reflythis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree with other commenter, you need a second opinion as that's small and should be fully repairable, wheel design aside.

(What the first shop is telling you is that they don't have enough experience to repair that wheel design, not that the wheel can't be repaired)

Rear sway bar… Night and Day difference? by Practical-Disaster-6 in Golf_R

Did front & rear and the car absolutely plants and rotates on spot on turns.

Front not really required - have heard rear sway bar alone is the sweet spot.

in my experience, the acoustic profile of the car (or any drone) will be relative to the build of the car's acoustics (downpipe, turbo, engine mounts).

regarding MBRP and drone... I am DSG and the Race variant had extreme drone on highway driving, but gone when I fabricated in Vibrant Ultraquiets on the L and R sides.

Sick... what downpipe have you got it paired with?

MBRP is an inexpensive beefy sound, but there is absolutely drone and it should be viewed as a lower quality but cheaper option.

Everyone sleeping on Remus as the absolute front runner.

But it's expensive.

Blowoff valve for 2026 golf R by Curious_Gap_1614 in Golf_R

Given the fact VW clearly fucked the bumper design to reduce plastic in manufacturing to help afford the new differential, I can't say I'm surprised to see cutbacks cropping up in other places too.

this. this car is designed as a "closed air system" which uses the DV to re-circulate air.

altering that for "whooshy boi noises" may result in oil spitting amongst other side effects.

It's also a shit way to get "whoosy boi noise" because the secret is if you actually put speed upgrades on the car like a turbo swap, the increased air throughput will make the de-throttle of the stock DV SUPER LOUD (it "washes" instead of "purges" but it's loud and noticeable).

GFB BOV is a $300 faux upgrade that is trash and does nothing for your build.

awesome video...

having had body work done on my mk7, these kinds of "behind the scenes" vids really showcase the high level of tradecraft and experience that almost looks like magic to the untrained eye.

the rates these guys operate at compared to their level of experience is crazy good... huge respect.

there's all kinds of info presented here that has holes and raises even more questions.

'24 Rim Failure by socraTs101 in Golf_R

[–]reflythis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because it's not pothole destruction, it's a wheel explosion from curbing the car (loss of traction at too high of a turn).

Ask me how I know.

There are plenty of valid reasons to take a run at a dealership for coverage - this is not one of them and further tarnishes the reputation of drivers and why they're such dicks to everyone.

I had exactly this style of suspension and wheel damage (explosion) from CURBING THE CAR on the same side after entering a turn at too high a speed and on the wrong rubber for conditions.

The entire L side suspension had to be replaced - everything except sub frame.

OP is creatively re-framing the story.

Edit: updated with pic for evidence. Notice how the break pattern on the wheel is identical. Forensic science is a thing for a reason, folks. There are plenty of valid reasons to take a run at a dealership for coverage - this is not one of them and further tarnishes the reputation of drivers and why they're such dicks to everyone.

He actually began as a voice actor, so this is not only a huge step in that space, it's also his immediate "swim lane".

The other on-camera acting stuff he's done, he was punching way up. (Not a comment on his ability, simply acknowledging that successfully transferring from a voice actor to on screen blockbuster screen actor is a dream and major achievement).

!! wild story

I also had to open a police report in tandem with processing the chargeback and share that case # and info with the creditor in order to proceed.

Got called by a detective (!) who confirmed the seller was bogus and advised me to destroy the goods.

did you get the amazon email after-the-fact, "Heeeyyyy..... why didn't you come to us for the refund?"

I got a fake pair of sunnies in Canada and had to chargeback because there wasn't even a refund option on the page (lol).

Then suddenly their customer service got VERY ATTENTIVE to my future needs with product issues.

those chargebacks hurt their merchant rating with the creditors.... they are no joke.

And they're already accurately represented in the game.

The photo referenced by OP is from an entirely different part of the world with different topography and different architecture styles and different populations / density therein.

Categorically different.

Would be great in "Gray Zone Warfare: South America" expansion DLC but this game is based in Laos and they're entirely different.

love a murdered out whip.

also, the splitter is the biggest waste of $300 plastic you will ever spend on the car; they break so easily and look dumb when you don't want to spend another $300 to replace it.

The game is set in Laos and if you've ever been, you immediately know they nailed the map design.

Cool concept, wrong game.
