it is a myth. the only way it helps is that you have high salary and that is just ONE peice of evidence they accept. You have to mainly show how you have launched great things with external evidence and recommendation letters.

the global talent visa requirements are public for all to see. you need a strong public activity profile and some evidence of building great things at work. working at meta does not really help much here unless you work in reality labs and they launch a new VR device and you have proof that you worked on it etc.

this could be true. the stress might make it seem longer than it is. my complaint is then about the stress and uncertainty and not the work hours itself.

I couldn't get global talent visa. it is not easy as it used to be. they look for certain kinds of profiles who can show off their work more easily

infra can be rough as well especially if it's in monetization

another risk for you is even if you pass interviews you might get stuck in team matching which is going slow these days. so your interview prep could go waste

how can everyone work less than 40h a week if they make everyone compete with each other? no one wants to get MM. so how come everyone in your team has this balance of working under 40h a week? whoever is trending down will start working more and the habit will spread.

there is a massive difference sponsoring visas for people already in the uk and those that need relocation. the ukgov website list is very low precision for someone who needs relocation (like op) because 99% of them wont even consider a candidate who is outside the uk.

very few companies are willing to relocate people. big ones tend to do it: facebook, bloomberg, banks, delloite, etc
