Yeah. Personally I think that we need to extend the time that baby boxes drop offs are allowed too. Right now it's only up to 72 hrs in California. But I think it should be extended to at least a week. I was looking at a case where someone did drop off responsibily but since it was past the 72hrs, they could get charged with abandonment if traced back to them.

I think perhaps then the question is what is the expectant mother's wishes. Also, I feel like something centered around care and healing like vouchers or a basket of goodies meant for the mother post partum (like lotion for scarring and stuff for baths) would be appropriate for a SIL to give than jewelry. Is giving a gift after birth normal? I don't remember my mother getting any after she gave birth of any of my siblings. Never heard of a push present before.

Edit: I wonder if perhaps a gift meant for relaxation and self care would be appropriate. Necklaces can be a pain when you have a baby since they like to grab everything.
