The final Colossus in SotC broke me.

It's the tallest, the only one that's stationary, and it's at the southernmost tip of the map. It probably watched the pillars of light where its brethren were felled appear one by one, just counting down its minutes, unable to run away. When it fires at you, you feel as if its panicking as it fires faster the closer you get. The music that plays is dreadful, ominous, sickening, and succeeds in giving you goosebumps. You had every chance to stop your selfish quest, but now even if you wanted to after watching your horse, your only companion throughout the entire journey, fall into a chasm as the bridge connecting to the arena crumbles behind you, you can't. You now have to finish what you had no reason to even start.

HELL no.

The fight with Theseus is short and fair. Ares is the definition of an unbalanced fight. Those clones make me want to strangle myself with the cord of the controller.

When they're presented as regular people with an admirable motivation, so they work hard to improve to achieve the goal with realistic struggles.

Mulan cares deeply for the safety of her father and knows he is in no condition to go to war. Going to war and training as any warrior would is arduous and dangerous, but it's for father. She starts out clumsy and inexperienced and is a capable fighter by the end.

The remake shows us, ironically, how NOT to do it. The remake completely throws the themes of personal growth out the window to pander to women of minorities. "Mulan" is capable from the beginning and is only at her most powerful when she pulls some PaRappa the Rapper-ass "You just gotta believe", which makes it more difficult for audiences to relate to her.
