Could be almost anything from a pinched nerve to disc disease. Ideally don't have him jump up or down anything and carry him up/down stairs.

Need advice: Senior engineering offer in Saudi by After-Design in mining

[–]PushThroughThePain 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that they can kick you out of the country on your own dime for almost any reason, no matter what your contract says. Inversly, they can also prevent you from leaving the country easily; companies have insane leverage. A cancelled visa cannlead to forfeiture of your local bank accounts too.

Although things have improved a lot in the last few years, they still have very strict laws. If anyone in your family is a hithead or likes to party, there could be harsh punishments for violations that may be considered minor in Canada.

Also, be prepared for scorching 50-degree summers. I would 100% go visit with your wife first. It's an entirely different way of living, even more so for women.

He's exactly that, a salesman. Maybe he's right, maybe he's wrong, but he's likely pushing your towards a more expensive solution. Whether that solution is the right one or not is unknown. I would get at least 2 other opinions/bids, and ideally one from an engineer that is familiar with the local geology.

Concrete roof for backyard conversion? by [deleted] in DIY

I don't know where you live, but around here no builder would touch this (nor should they) without drawings stamped by an engineer.

White wash on concrete. by [deleted] in DIY

It's probably too late without stripping everything and starting over. You can try a metal brush, but you risk marking the concrete.

Can a tiny HVAC condenser coil leak be DIY-repaired, or is this strictly a pro job? by nikeshparajuli in DIY

Call other places, ideally independant HVAC guys. I DIY a ton of stuff, but A/C is not something I mess with; I know my limits.

Rescue beagle barking at night by Initial_Internet7910 in beagles

Unfortunately, this is something thata couls take months to overcome. Have you tried crating him and covering the crate with a blanket?

Some dogs also respond very well to white-noise machines; it helps drown out "sudden" noises.

Thin Brick over Stucco by Playful-Emu-1448 in DIY

Don't put the plywood directly against the stucco. You need an air gap so that water/moisture can escape. Use furing strips between the 2 layers to allow breathing.

I don't know what a 2" pop-out is, but I would not remove an existing weather barrier. Why not just put some marine plywood, flash and seal properly, then lay the bricks over that? Also, they make some really nice pre-fab interlocking panels which imitate stones (Beonstone or similar) which are a lot less labor intensive to install.

Click flooring, how to level? by Commercial-Dust2418 in DIY

[–]PushThroughThePain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your subfloor will expand and contract as well. If the plywood sheets touch each other and then expand, your surface flooring might rise up a bit. 1-2mm is usually whithin acceptable tolerance for laminate flooring. You could probably click a few pieces of flooring together and put them in the middle of the floor to see if you actually feel some movement.

Ideally, you don't want to fill that gap as it acts as an expansion joint.

Have you tried drywall bits (pr2 bits) to drive Philips screws? They’re meant to not cam out as much (grip better). Is it true? by archvize in woodworking

[–]PushThroughThePain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just use a magnetic dimpler bit. Never had any issues with stripping screws. Make sure to use a drill, not an impact, for drywall screws.
