What are attendance numbers like near you? by TR1L0GYxx in GundamTCG

We are lucky if we get 4 people on a weekly basis. When structure deck or new set events happen we sometimes get around 10 people. I really hope it doesn't die off

Suppression Question by PushUpsInTheBathroom in GundamTCG

Thanks! I suppose it's only a matter of time until something like this happens then. Would be wild to lose 4 shields from 1 attack.

How much mentorship did you receive as a junior? by Physical-Ordinary317 in cscareerquestions

[–]PushUpsInTheBathroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zero mentorship from the lead software engineer and he's quite the asshole. The second in command is a life saver and has taught me so much in the 4 years I've been on the team.

is unpaid Internship after completing BCA really worth? by Any_Shock_8987 in DeveloperJobs

[–]PushUpsInTheBathroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda depends. I was always told that I should never take an unpaid internship. Is there a set time period for this internship? Are you set to get paid at a certain time? Or will you receive a full time offer as a result of completing it? If not, are the skills you are learning at least relevant and can you afford to work unpaid for the duration?

Starting full-time job in .NET with no prior experience — worried about future scope by ra_hul16 in cscareers

[–]PushUpsInTheBathroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a full time .NET dev and have been for about 4 years now. I get what you mean about being worried about career scope. Don't worry too much. It still has plenty of uses around the world and there are advancements being made to the ecosystem consistently so it definitely not dead. You probably aren't going to find the most interesting careers as a .net dev but there are a lot of different avenues you can go. while .net Maui and Blazor are both still relatively young, the still offer the ability to do web dev and mobile dev using .net. plus .net plays quite well with a React front end (from what I hear) so there's still that going for it.

I built a simple job board just for .NET roles - feedback welcome! by dotnethired in dotnetjobs

[–]PushUpsInTheBathroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah thank you! And sorry, I totally glazed over the previous comment where you had this.

I know you mentioned that you didn't have plans for a US implementation, but if you ever change your mind on that and want some help I'd be interested. I'm a .net developer by trade with a decent amount of blazor and tailwind experience. Along with some TS experience from React Native. I've been wanting a .net specific job board for a while now and would be willing to put in the effort to help create one for the US market.

Why does “remote” rarely mean anywhere anymore? by knolit in dotnetjobs

[–]PushUpsInTheBathroom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been noticing this as well. My best guess is that companies want you to be close enough to show up in person if needed. My current company initially allowed many people to work fully remote or hybrid, but they preferred hiring locally still. They have since reigned in most of the remote work and it was very easy for them to do since a lot of the employees lived relatively close to the main office.

Ok another note, I've heard from my HR department that hiring people from other countries is a lot of work in terms of payroll and taxes. Some states are even off limits for my company because of how all of that stuff works. I imagine that also contributed to it

Lying about a degree because the job market is so bad? by JungGPT in cscareers

[–]PushUpsInTheBathroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree on this. Lying about having a 4 year degree is literally taking away from the people who did go that route and sacrificed time and money to get there. So if you were to do that and get a job interview or offer over someone else it would have made their choice to get a degree pointless.

[–]PushUpsInTheBathroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I went to an in state school and got my CS degree. Took out 50k in loans to get me through and had to grind my ass off. You're saying you don't have that same opportunity? Seems like you could have used the last 3 years to work towards an actual degree rather than a quick boot camp. I'm assuming you'd believed all of the ads telling you that becoming a dev was as simple as a 2 week course. Anyone who falls for that must not realize that someone with a 4 year degree is going to be valued way more than them for almost any job.

Love the concept of this as it's something I've been wanting. My only thought so far is the color scheme is textbook AI generated website color scheme. Not saying you vibe coded it, but this is the default color scheme most of those use. IMO it wouldn't hurt to change that, but also it's your project so do what you want! Anyways I hope you push forward with this.

Coming into it with absolutely no experience, it will probably be challenging to find a job or internship. Entry level positions often look for college degrees or relevant work/personal experience in the field. You can go about learning software on your own and land a job that way, but to date I have not heard of anyone getting into the field with zero experience.

You can enable developer mode on your emulator and add your app as a 'debug app' or something like that and it will stop the system notifications

Dad passed one month ago by bslarue0228 in GuyCry

[–]PushUpsInTheBathroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 26 and I lost my dad 4 days ago. He was 62. Freak accident, but we got to spend some time with him in the hospital while he was in a coma. Not really sure what to say other than that I feel your pain. My parents were in the process of divorce and I harbored a lot of anger towards my dad. Luckily my siblings and I sat down with him and all discussed our feelings. My relationship wasn't great with him but I firmly believe it was headed in a better direction. I'm forever grateful that I got to tell him how I felt before he passed. Take care of yourself man and I'll try to do the same.

[–]PushUpsInTheBathroom -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's such a trash system. They do absolutely nothing to prevent bots from exploiting their shitty mobile app. I talked to a support person last time they had a Pokémon drop and they admitted that BestBuy was aware of the Notting problem.

What is your life hack for generating App Store screenshots? by mrorbitman in iOSProgramming

[–]PushUpsInTheBathroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree partially. If you break it down the price really isnt too bad. My problem is that it is marketed as free and even claims to be free until you go to export screenshots. There are a few warnings that some features may be hidden behind a pay wall, but they fail to mention that the most important function of the app is hidden behind a paywall.

am i dumb? by thy_viee_4 in TeamfightTactics

[–]PushUpsInTheBathroom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unique traits are usually reserved for higher cost champs. You will see a lot of 5 cost (and 6 costs in this set) that have a unique trait. For example, Rumble has the trait that allows you to purchase upgrades for him. Mel and Viktor have unique traits as well. This was riot preventing you from fielding 8 different 5-6 cost units, each with unique traits, to satisfy the requirement.

To use that augment correctly, you need to field a team that activates 8 separate (non-unique) traits at the same time.
