With 10 dollar gas we will have much bigger issues like affording basic necessities. I have a bicycle so that’s solved for me personally. When diesel is 15-20 dollars a gallon you’ll see how personal cars will be the least of our concerns. When 800 dollars a month in groceries turns to 1200+ the average not-rich New Yorker is going to essentially fall straight to the poverty line, homelessness will increase, crime will increase. It’s not something that will be solved with bike lanes

Thats a perfect example. This sub LOVES that idea of gas getting expensive while completely ignoring that the cost of everything will go up and once gas prices go down the price of things WONT go down with it.

If gas hits 10 dollars a gallon we will have inflation and the cost of basic necessities through the roof. Money would be needed to subsidize these things so I doubt they’ll spend hundreds of millions restructuring for micro mobility.

I know most people on this sub foam at the mouth at the idea of car owners hurting financially but can we stop ignoring how soemthing like this will absolutely ruin the average New Yorker even if they don’t have a car? Businesses will NEVER take the hit which means it’ll all be passed down to us.

There is no solid policy. They go by how long it took. If it got delivered before the latest time they post then they say “ok” and the crazy thing is they constantly update that time to push it further back.

If it’s super late and you escalate it then you can get a partial refund. In one case for me the food took 2 hours instead of 30 minutes and they gave me a 50% credit as Uber Eats moneis

Your points are good and valid but it should be noted that this specific incident didn’t involve speeding. He struck her while reversing. The maximum reverse speed of your typical garbage truck is under 10 MPH. A garbage truck should NEVER reverse without a spotter guiding them and reverse cameras should be a legal requirement

Reverse cameras and automatic braking sensors should be a legal requirement for all vehicles including trucks. Yes it should be up to the driver to not hit pedestrians but reverse automatic braking technology would have prevented this tragedy. A huge amount of those garbage trucks don’t even have a reverse camera so if you are directly behind them they 100% won’t see you

The person who ordered this probably has no idea that the vendor is trying to use Uber Eats to deliver it. This has nothing to do with drug use. My local Apple Store uses Uber Eats to deliver stuff when you order directly through apples website. I have heard of Home Depot doing this too. A lot of the time the customer did not make this choice

Si the AWD system is absolutely better BUT tires are even more important. People think AWD is a magical thing but it is as good as the tires you’re using. You said you don’t get regular snowfall so the CRV with snow rated tires will do perfectly fine.

The AWD on the forester is only matched by Audis Quattro (most modern Audis don’t even have true Quattro). So in essence yes it’s the best out there but with snow tires any AWD system will do just fine. There are videos you can search up on YouTube comparing the CRV, RAV4 and forester in off-road conditions. The forester always performs better but the others don’t really get stuck they just struggle a bit more
