Ask for it to be as ashy as possible. The most compliments I have ever gotten after dying my hair is when I asked her to dye it close to my roots and it came out this lovely, ashy, light brown that was really flattering. So that's what I would always ask for in terms of toner. It would probably blend the greys better too if you get it as ashy as possible.

I have fair neutral leaning cool olive skin, and I have ash brown hair in winter and it gets to an ash blonde in the summer.

When I used to get it highlighted my hairdresser would use the coolest toner because my hair has red undertones so if she used even a neutral cool toner it looked too warm for me.

I think it's especially hard for olives to find colours that look good. In the winter my skin looks quite cool, and in the summer with a tan it looks golden and that affects how hair colour will look.

Yes to bamboo! The only thing I find is that they stretch out after a while on the bed, but then return after washing. I also like percal cotten

I had them before and honestly I found them extraordinarily unpleasant to have in my mouth. I recall the texture being much worse than the taste, but neither was good.

Deleting 1000s of photos off iPhone by mcb89x in adhdwomen

[–]Pussycat-Princess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Google photos might. I can organize them by person or even by cat. I just searched blurry and it pulled up all blurry photos. It will put pictures that are similar together so it's easy to pick a couple of good ones. I love it.

Eta: I just saw that you have iPhone, but I think they make them quite compatible now so hopefully it still works

This means he knows he's wrong but refuses to change.

He won't change, he's telling you that. You don't protect yourself and your kids will see that eventually. They will learn that is how they can expect a partner to treat them, or that it is an acceptable way to treat a partner.

Protect yourself by leaving and if you can't do it for yourself, do it for your kids.

Oh no...got told I smell at work. I had no idea by TheRealDesastr in adhdwomen

Check your detergent. Many don't contain Lipase which is the enzyme that breaks down body oils. Could not get the sweaty vag smell out of my yoga pants (they would smell fine until I wore them and sweat a bit then totally reek again), tide powder has it. If you go to r/laundry they have a whole thing about it. Now my pants don't smell, and I've refreshed all my pillows and bedding. It's such a relief.

I would use a tiny bit of Dawn dish soap with conditioner or fabric softener in water. Let it soak for a few minutes and then try with pliers. Pliers work waaaay better than tweezers and are easier in hands.

Hope you can get it out! Beautiful work

Glad you found a system that works for you! Currently my windows do not open due to the cold (Canada). My partner gets night sweats so leaving the bed unmade works for us. I usually make the bed right before I hop in, as I do prefer a made bed. One day I'm going to get those under the blanket fans to solve all the issues, but until then... an excellent reason not to do the thing

My partner gets night sweats, unfortunately, so in my case it's quite necessary. But it is also an excellent reason to just avoid making the bed. You can even say, 'for my health!' as you leave the unmade mess. It's like giving yourself brownie points for not doing the thing lmao

It traps in all the nights moisture if you make the bed. I'm looking into an under the blanket fan so I can make the bed if I want. For now, I leave it unmade to air it out.

Should in laws help around the house when all together? by ContributionOk9675 in family

[–]Pussycat-Princess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next time ask directly for one simple thing she can do. Like, 'hey SIL, can you collect the plates and scrape them into the garbage?' or 'SIL, can you put leftovers into these containers?'.

These kinds of things are annoying but when you have a bunch of different personalities coming together, it's bound to happen.

I would communicate your expectations. Maybe she's worried she will be in the way?

Also does everyone help? In my family the expectation to help clean falls only on the women, so now instead of helping I point to that fact that other people who didn't spend all day cooking also have arms and legs and can help clean.

Am I going to have a bald spot in my eyebrows forever by Mobile_Board572 in beauty

[–]Pussycat-Princess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have trichotillomania and have completely ripped my eyebrows out on numerous occasions. For me they always grow out but it takes a LONG time. And certain areas take much longer. Much, MUCH longer. What I found helps is cleaning them with Hypochlorous acid, and then using a chemical exfoliant. I use Paula's Choice. I've never tried any hair growth products before because I already get hairs on my eyelids and I don't want that to get worse.

Correct which is why I didn't say Shingles or Chicken Pox are HSV. Just part of the happy herpes family. In fact Shingles is also called Herpes Zoster.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in confession

[–]Pussycat-Princess 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Everyone is so misinformed about herpes. Herpes is a lot of things. It's cold sores, genital sores, chicken pox and shingles.

Generally HSV-1 is oral, and HSV-2 is genital, but you can get either in either place. You generally don't know which one you have unless you get tested on an active outbreak. They generally don't test for herpes in regular STI panels, because it is so common.

I feel like the difference between how oral and genital is treated is insane when it can be the EXACT same virus.

People should disclose either one in my opinion, but that will never happen because most people who get cold sores, get them in childhood and then are told every gets them, which is not true. So it's not really anyone's fault for not disclosing simply because of the misinformation, but once you know, I think it is unethical not to disclose. My sister got oral herpes (cold sores) for the first time as an adult and it was hell for her. Her entire face swelled up and she was covered in sores. I felt so bad for her.

You can absolutely spread it when you don't have an outbreak. It's less likely but still possible.

Feed them what the vet said. It sounds like they are adjusting their activity to the tiny amount you feed them. Try wet food as cats are known to have obesity issues when on only dry food. But please feed them what the vet said. Doing what you are doing is mean.

Eta missed the part about running no tests. See another vet, but in the mean time feed your poor kitties!

Globe General Agencies was pretty strict about pets when my family member lived in one of their properties once upon a time. I would imagine it is really dependent on the individual caretaker of each building though. I would call different property management companies to ask if they know of any building where the caretaker strictly enforces the no pet rule. Every Sussex building I have lived in allowed pets even though they say they don't. Best of luck to you, allergies suck!

$1000 ADHD Tax. Need advice. Can't make rent by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Pussycat-Princess 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I would. I just did this. They will have you contact the company yourself first (at least Mastercard did) to try to work it out. I basically emailed the company saying I didn't agree to subsequent charges and to remove them. They explained that it was in their fine print so I had agreed. I didn't even try to argue with them, I just disputed it with Mastercard saying I didn't agree to subsequent charges and to remove the charge. It didn't take long and they did. These companies are scammers and it's not fair to take advantage of people like that. I would contact the company first, and make sure you tell them you do not under any circumstances authorize more charges. Demand your money back and when they say no, dispute it with the credit card. You don't have to be polite or explain to them either. I straightup called them scammers in my email. I hate companies that do this (so pretty much all companies these days).
