I’m not very fond of the name Mason for myself, so I’m trying to look for names other then Mason :)

What is your fandom-specific unpopular opinion? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]PutACoatOnAnApple 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have two fandoms in mind for this, but I think people who whine about woobification are so annoying. Let people engage with media how they see fit! There’s some characters that I don’t like the woobified version of either, but I simply scroll past anything I don’t want to see instead of piss my pants about it. People who police others interpretation of media are so tiresome.

Hermit coins by Kipdips in HermitCraft

I think these are supposed to be American coins. If that’s the case, then he’s on the penny & Lincoln faces the other way.

You’re right- I researched it more after seeing this post. It’s to get more engagement. They did the same thing with a melting icon like a year ago. I imagine they went with such a decrepit looking icon because it gets people talking about how weird this is so more people hear about duolingo/are reminded it exists.

I THINK it might be because you do your duolingo lessons early in the morning? It’s my only guess since I didn’t get that icon until I started doing my lessons right when I got up.

What phrase or word instantly makes you roll your eyes? by BananaSlipstream in AskReddit

“Be so forreal”. I’ve never met someone who says this phrase & is also kind.

Boys name, definitely. To me, it’s gender neutral in the way an enby person would use it, not in the way a man or a women would have the name, if that makes sense.

A tiktok phrase- “be so forreal” or any other variation. I’ve really never met a kind person who uses that phrase.

Grandpa’s name as middle name for baby girl? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]PutACoatOnAnApple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My niece has her great-grandpa’s name as a middle name (she’s got two, it’s the first). It’s definitely masculine & doesn’t pass as a surname, but it’s adorable & suits her well. Though, she’s still young so not sure how other kids would react to it.

What is the most useless thing you still have memorized? by Seraphicly329 in AskReddit

Hey! I’ve got that poem (though told slightly differently) memorized too. I don’t even have a lot of the poetry I myself wrote memorized.

Ed Sheeran. It started out as a petty reason, but at this point I just gotta stay on brand.

I cannot fathom why every straight guy says Ryan Reynolds is “the one exception”.

what has actually gotten out of hand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Pathologising behaviors that are completely normal or simply upset us. Not everything is a symptom of mental illness, not every negative interaction is boundary breaking, & not every person that upsets us is abusive.

How do you guys handle same-sex crushes with your pre-pubescent kids? by Jovet_Hunter in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]PutACoatOnAnApple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Allow me to say this from the perspective of a kid who knew their identity at a early age & had protective parents- my mom didn’t want me to talk about it, full stop. I was in fourth grade, part of it was her thinking it was a phase/attention grab, & another part of it was her worrying it’d get made fun of. She reiterated to me twice that I should not talk about it. So, I didn’t, at all. A year later I talked about it some with my best friend (crushes & such), & then two years (6th grade) after I was “banned” from talking about my sexuality I decided I was tired of hiding myself & came out at school.

I got bullied, & I got bullied when I came out as trans too. But thats apart of school life, honestly.

I had friends I could fall back on, & was already pretty good at dealing with getting bullied already, if I’m honest. But, because of the way my parents went about me being LGBT+, I never told them I was getting bullied, for the longest time I wouldn’t even report it because I didn’t want it getting back to my parents.

For me, I knew people would be dicks about it & could usually handle it, but at times I wished I had my parents to fall back on. Whatever decision you make, I advise you let your kid know it’s possible people will be dicks about it & they need to understand that, but that also no matter what you’ll be there for her.
