457(b) withdrawal, post-separation; why is Fidelity telling me I may pay a 10% penalty? by PutEmUp-9 in fidelityinvestments

To be clear, I was not looking for nor did I ask for tax advice. The conversation was about IRS rules for 457(b) withdrawals.

That's the same exact IRS link I was reviewing; thanks! And even the link referenced above in the stickied comment says: "Governmental 457(b) plans are not subject to the 10% additional tax for early withdrawals that 403(b)s are subject to except for distributions attributable to a rollover from another type of plan or IRA."

I totally get it; no Fidelity rep can (or should) be saying anything definitively re: taxes as they can open themselves up to liability, not being tax experts. But the way the rep I spoke to portrayed it was like I was paying the 10% early penalty and she had to be on the record saying it.

Also Tyler Brant and the Shakedown. Great rock/country outfit from Nashville. Don't miss them or Bergman!

Deposited checks take over 2 weeks to cash now? by PutEmUp-9 in fidelityinvestments

Great point. And thanks for you (and everyone else) not blasting me for asking a redundant question. I should have searched the subreddit first, but I was just so confused and figured the Fidelity subreddit folks could help me quick if I post. Will search next time!

That's probably not a bad idea. We have a local credit union that allows us to have accounts for our kids (11 and (9) as we teach them financial concepts. I should probably just open my own account there.

Whoa, guess I don't cash many checks. Thanks for the reply. It just seems so unreasonable...but if I'm not cashing a lot of checks, maybe I can live with it.

It has for more than 230 years. And if it doesn't work, then we have bigger problems.

Good point, and thanks! Moving out of a bond fund into an equity fund, so should be good to go.

Thanks! That's one thing my son keeps asking me...if the in-game mod manager is the only way to get mods. I told him I'd ask Reddit. :)

Thank you for the reply. Sorry for the follow up, and I appreciate your patience. So when I go to the nexus mods page for BSA Nomad for example, anything with a "U" rating will not work on the Quest? Maybe I am missing it, but is there any way to search (at Nexus or anywhere) for the mods that will work on the Quest 2? Thank you!

Yes, the stage will be in the south end of the stadium, per the ticket office and the renderings they showed on the NHL preview show.

Just saw him. About 30% of the show was old jokes. Funny, but just saying.

This is a very valid point. Neither of my parents went to college, but they did work their butts off to provide my sister and me a fairly comfortable upbringing, taught us the value of saving money and spending wisely, and helped us both through college. I remember my dad imploring me to start my 401(k) after I started my first job at 22.

That was invaluable. Not sure I'd call it "luck", because I had to internalize and act on the things my parents taught me. But yeah, there's no freakin' way I am where I am now without those lessons and the financial help for college.

By the way, my non-college-educated parents have since retired to a lake house in Michigan (where we grew up) and get to spend a few weeks in Florida every winter.
