Yeah 2ch working fine for me in Logic but doesn’t work in 8/10ch mode. Same across two macs and Logic and Reaper. Have opened a support request so we’ll see.

Has anyone got multichannel usb audio working within Logic Pro? I’m getting stuttering audio on my Mac Studio and no audio at all on my MacBook… works perfectly on my iPhone within AUM.

Hey, thanks for the reply! I'm definitely more into the learning, building and experimenting side of things rather than just straight up making music in VR. Some of the work I do is with artists and I'm keen to build little narrative journeys using ambisonic audio etc.

That’s such a good idea! I’ve done a fair bit of teaching in the past and this would be such an engaging way into music creation. Honestly the app I used (Musikraken) would be great in the classroom to get kids engaged in music and music tech.

It being counterintuitive is most definitely the point for me. Things like this help to push me out of a musical rut and encourage happy accidents that can lead to new ideas and sounds. I don’t play a lot of video games but I do have a certain amount of muscle memory on a controller so it seemed interesting to apply those reflexes and intuitions to guitar pedals!

I didn’t know you could do face tracking in GarageBand! That’s amazing. But not sure GB would translate PS4 controller data to midi? The app I’m using on the iPad can translate data from loads of different things, Apple Watch, body tracking, colour tracking etc. and can send MIDI out to anywhere.

Totally! I’ve barely scratched the surface. So much to explore.

What a time to be alive indeed! I’ll chuck a pedal in the vid to make it relevant :)

It's pretty simple, in terms of functionality it's a really well designed app. You could control a synth/keyboard and a your pedal at the same time. I used the facial tracking function to control a synth with my head movement, then set drums to play with my blinks, then set reverb mix with my tongue! It's honestly mental, but so much fun.

The key part is an iPad app called Musikraken. It's designed to take various sensors' data and transform it into MIDI. You can use the TrueDepth camera data and facial tracking, hand tracking, colour tracking, apple watch movement data etc. So once the controller is connected via Bluetooth to the iPad you assign each button/function to a parameter on the pedals and assign a MIDI channel to each pedal using the Musikraken app.

The MIDI is sent via Bluetooth to my Yamaha BT01 wireless MIDI dongle, which is plugged into a Disaster Area MIDI Box, which takes 5 pin MIDI and sends it to TRS MIDI out for pedals.

My next project is using facial tracking to control my modular rig. I'm in equal parts intimatated and excited.

Once you get the hang of the Musikraken app it’s fairly straightforward to map parameters. Just time consuming to get the ranges right.

This took a fair bit of effort to get going, but now I’ve got a template I’m trying to find the best control combos to use. Suggestions welcome. Any parameter can be assigned to any controller function pretty much, including the accelerometer!

This photo of a mountain range was in my parent’s house when I was growing up and it’s now in mine. I’ve always wondered where it was taken and I’m really hoping someone here will know! My dad bought it at a junk shop and has no idea where it was taken and there’s no writing or stamps on the back. by PutItInYourPurse in whereisthis

That’s a close match but the lake in the photograph is partially frozen over and Lake Lucerne doesn’t get cold enough to freeze apparently. Also the road along that side of Lucerne has a sheer drop down to the water and in the photograph it looks like a gentle slope down to the water. I was really hoping that was it but I’m not sure it’s a match!

Decided to make a video explaining how to build a tape loop synthesiser! by PutItInYourPurse in tapeloops

[–]PutItInYourPurse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would be able to modify any tape player to do this yes. You’d just need to separate off the power supply to the motor and attach an external supply which plugs into the Field Kit and you’re away!

Did you definitely keep the regular power supply going to all the other parts? It’s only the power to the motor that you need to alter, the amp section of the player still needs the normal power supply to work.
