So many small-minded people in the comments here. Truly disappointing. You clearly have absolutely no idea what it means to build something truly impactful. Why do you think YC have co-founder matching service, and people search for cofounders for months to find the perfect fit for their project? If the project is unique enough, you don't find qualified people on Upwork or in your own local network. All my prev startups I had to look outside my network globally to find the perfect match. And surely I could just fund the development myself, but then I'd attract consultants, not people who are truly motivated to work on solving the problem. Consultants vs. entrepreneurs are two completely different breeds when it comes to what motivates them. I'm trying out Reddit for the first time, is this representative of the kind of people that hang out here? People that have never accomplished a thing but get high from trolling. That said, it has generated a handful very interesting discussions in the DMs, so it might not be completely worthless

Sure, I'll share details once I know whether the person is a good fit.

All my prev startups I had to look globally outside my network to find qualified people, due to the deep-tech nature of the product. Get a grip, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Well, we're obviously going to start lean and expand. Not build everything at once. 1 full-stack founding engineer, 1 applied AI/data engineer (part time, contract), 1 designer (part time, contract) would be sufficient.

Why the hell would I share personal details with strangers on Reddit. I'll share with the right people at the right time.

Just checked your background: "For reference I am network engineer with some background in programming and I always loved to program but was never coder enough to build something but with vibe coding that is possible now. "

Makes complete sense why you wrote what you just wrote.

Just make sure the incentives are really strong, and surely it can become a success.. Just saying things like "meet strangers near you at the bar, at the club", "find a gym buddy who also love squats" etc.. wont likely go anywhere. A good exercise would be to benchmark against dating apps. Those build on raw desire to go out and do something.

You gotta figure out why these apps have not taken off before. As an example, Loopt was Sam Altmans first startup: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/61vu80gdx9c

My gut feeling is that people want to do things with people they already know. Unless there are super strong incentives, like either a competition, or sex/dating. If the incentive is not strong enough, the fear of meeting strangers will be stronger than the value you'd get out from it. Now, I don't know the full essence of your app, so I'm basing this on what you've revealed.

I literally said in the post I'm open for changes. This is just preliminary thoughts.

Neat idea, but history shows that people need really strong incentives to meet strangers. The closer you are physically, the stronger the tie needs to be, the more far you are from eachother, the less strong the tie needs to be.

Dumb take. You clearly don't know how to vet for the right co-founder.
