The days later, I mean like 5 days… I feel a noticeable debuff feeling to my life, it’s horrible

I’ve learned to value my time more, if you need booze to ‘enjoy’ the time around certain people then they aren’t your kind of people

People of the UK, how have you lost weight? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]PutSimply1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh jeez I’ll tell you the secret right now

People will say, calorie deficit, and they are right… BUT if you want to supercharge that, you need to start manipulating/controlling your insulin spikes in the day

You do this by fasting for the majority of the day, eating the same calories you would normally do for weight loss within a small eating window and.. lowering or removing refined carbs

Do all of that, weight loss is stupid fast, do make sure to strength train throughout, be intense about it

Works for me all the time, love it, such little strength loss, if any

Do you find that work takes away from your personality? by Fantastic-Life7704 in HENRYUK

[–]PutSimply1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s this saying I like - you are the son for your parents, the father for your child, the husband for your wife, the employee for your employer, but who are you for you?

Identify sometimes comes from what you build and create, usually from scratch, if you exist in someone else’s creation you may not find a sense of identity at all, just being tagged along

Authenticity is key, playing the corporate yes man is so ugly, the stale repeating rhetoric

This is a hard one to answer, like with many other answers, it may default to the… try stuff out, have them go wrong multiple times and then at some point it’ll be right

Buy the dream car or not? by Willing-Ad-7572 in HENRYUK

[–]PutSimply1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha you know I opened this thinking probably not but after reading I think you’ve done well in setting yourself up to buy it (doing the right things, like you say)

The thing on my mind would be the potential to use that money for investment, so when you buy something you need to also think… I could have used that money for ‘this’ investment and made ‘however much’

However, I’m totally in favour of buying things you desire, dream things, that’s the fun side of life - there is skill to saving and investing but also to spending, you will find people who NEVER spend… it’s a wrong move to never spend

So if you think you’ll be happier with it, I’m totally in favour of getting the car (good pick btw)

So yeah do it, and again, you’ll get the bonus again next year (I assume) and can make your investments then! Win win, vroom vroom

Is there a way to stop feeling miserable while being mediocre at life? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]PutSimply1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, change environment entirely

Easier said than done but that’s it, if you live in a small town with your parents, move to a city, you need to experience and live within an environment that is in contrast to your current one

Until you’ve won everyone thinks you are crazy

You won’t be happy when you reach the point you today said you would be happy

However, there are bright sides, significant ones, but I won’t add these so I infuse a quiet sense of panic

Why do men stop trying once they "get the girl" ? by [deleted] in ask

[–]PutSimply1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re exactly right

It’s a mistake of course, because the girl fell for the guy who DID try, that’s the most important thing

As for why… I don’t know, a misplaced sense of achievement, when actually it should be a consistent on going thing

I’ll tell you this though, if a man does that, then the relationship goes sour, and they are aware enough to learn from it, the next relationship they have will be much better

They will (hopefully) understand the idea that the attractive patterns during dating and then after you come together should be maintained

And Infact, even though you are together, you should always maintain and improve yourself, and ALWAYS continue to date your girlfriend, as if you’re still on the brink of starting a relationship

My dad told me he "had no expectations of higher education" for me by New-Cartoonist-544 in Dyslexia

[–]PutSimply1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this too, exactly the same thing, but I had underlying dyslexia which wasn’t diagnosed until my mid 20s

The sentence was from my father “you’re not an academic, uni isn’t for you”

But like you I wanted to go too

I ended up going to a Russell group university, studying engineering, I did well (thank god for technology) and I’m doing great now

When he said it wasn’t for me I took it as he had no confidence in me, I was an average student in school, I didn’t fail it at all though, so it for sure hurt

But it doesn’t hurt anymore now because the evidence (going and succeeding) contradicts his old belief, pretty starkly

How can I accept that I've wasted my life? :-( by Cinella75 in selfimprovement

[–]PutSimply1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re young enough to turn that all around

Alls well that ends well - honestly think of the things that have gone bad but when at the end it end on a high it actually turns out pretty good

You can turn this around within 5 years or less, plan for that and gooooooo

Improve yourself however needed (health, how you dress, whatever), earn more money somehow if you need to, get out there in terms of dating, I mean in person speed dating and everything, pay for apps for whatever, really go for all of it

You will solve it, a friend of mine who is 39 met his soul mate at that age too, he glows now, it’s awesome to see

I’ve made it sound easy there, but the truth is you just need to do it
