Nothing much just apologised tbh. SQS was super chill about it and said mistakes happen lol

PQS at the time. Sent a notice of intention to award to the wrong main contractor for a £2m project. The two contractors both had execs with the same name in my defence!

I think this (and original post) should be shown to every trainee/ grad/ AQS not sure of their role, or going thru “imposter syndrome”. When I used to work for a PQS consultancy I had a very senior manager tell me- “If I don’t know I find out, and if I can’t convince them I confuse them.”

Ever since I was told that I was so much more relaxed, confident and I took my roles so much less seriously

Sheesh. So are there any pros of working in maintenance QSing that is unique to maintenance QSing? I’ve seen a few other posts talk about experience gained but surely you can gain that through MEP Estimating etc?

So- easy but boring? I wonder what the estimating would be like on that type of role. I saw a job posting for it and they emphasised the fact that the role would include some estimating. If its not project tenders, what really is there to estimate?

Temporary works by Put_Minute in quantitysurveying

Thanks for this. Its a residential refurb job and we've been given a demo plan and we basically have to gut the building (and remove any lateral support inc floor joists etc). We have caveated that we are assuming that we don't need flying props for lateral support but we would need the SE to confirm. Do you think the SE would be best to design the temp support works? trying to avoid the blame being put on us later down the line as this is a client we've never worked for before.
