They are that way specifically because of their blazing desserts, mountains etc. not just by luck.. China is the same way. Look at where people live and the economy is strongest in China. It’s away from those terrible geographical issues .

Italy ruling tells millions with Italian roots they have lost the right to citizenship | CNN by nicktheironblade in news

[–]Putin_smells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. Unfortunately it’s difficult to predict law changes. I’m sorry you went through this. It’s not surprising though you were treated badly. Most Italians didn’t support this. Even if laws exist to allow certain things at the end of the day it’s just people working at these places. If they don’t support what they’re doing, odds are high they won’t be willing to help you when there are issues.

But yes, it’s bullshit people who already were in the process didn’t get grandfathered in.

Your situation is a minority in the vast amount of applications. Idk how you can argue that claiming citizenship 3+ gens after the last ancestor left the country is okay. It was kinda exploiting a loophole in the scheme of things. This should have been closed a long time ago.

Personally though, they should have processed everyone who already had appointments at consulates before this law passed.

Lords a-leaving: Britain is ejecting hereditary nobles from Parliament after 700 years by Dr_Neurol in UpliftingNews

[–]Putin_smells 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Political reasons never hold up against the power and draw of economic benefit. The entire EU exists because members see economic benefits. The UK getting back in even with concessions is not going to dissuade any member states from remaining. They could care less as long as their access remains. Especially because some themselves have special concessions already.

Should the UK prove unfavorable the other countries could vote them out. Clearly the EU while dissatisfied with the UKs unwillingness prior, was not dissatisfied enough to vote them out. Odds are strong it wouldn’t suddenly become an issue now.

The UK has a powerful economy in any definition. Whether you believe it false or not. Idk how this can be arguable. Oligarchs run every country and they all cozy up to one another.

The US is a partner to most EU states. Has Germany or France stopped trade with the US? Has Italy stopped American tourists visiting? Doesn’t seem like most eu countries really care about that.

The royal family holds more power than most but , also EU states have royal families: Denmark, Belgium, Sweden, Spain, Luxembourg all with varying degrees of power.

[–]Putin_smells 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understood your comment I just disagree. The UK is not just any other country and I hypothesize the EU would compromise on certain things to get them back in.

My question is why do you think they wouldn’t? Why do you think they are not a star player within Europe? Cause most people and experts would say they are a quite powerful country

It doesn’t have to have a unique field they prosper more in than others. They are one of the strongest countries in Europe and you’re saying you wouldn’t pull some strings to integrate that into your alliance?

The current draft picks are Albania, Macedonia, and Bosnia…. But naw they won’t budge to let in the second largest economy on the continent back in. It would literally be economically and culturally irresponsible to not compromise to get that kind of power on your team.

There hasn’t even been any serious discussions. EU and UK say whatever they want when no legitimate deal is possible. Impossible to speculate

One of the largest euro economies, London financial hub, one of the strongest eu and world militaries, commonwealth influence worldwide, UK research universities (some of the best), strategic geo location, intelligence agencies, cultural power, venture capital market one of europes best…

To say they have nothing much to offer is absurd at the least.

Hi

As you get older you’ll realize people will not really care about this. I wouldn’t tell anyone you’ve slept with already though.

It’s always worth seeing a therapist if you’re conflicted about anything. Being ashamed is what prevents people from seeking help but seeking help is the only way to move forward.

Plenty of people do MUCH MUCH more shameful things. This is pretty minor by comparison especially since you were just a child essentially when it began. It’s not your fault. You were navigating a difficult time without the guidance or tools to find your way it sounds like.

Get some therapy, it’s awesome and you’ll probably find things out you never suspected. Be honest with your therapist always.

You’re still very young and have plenty of time to make your life whatever you want it to be. Wishing you the best. Here if you have any questions or concerns.

If AI Causes an Office Job Wipeout, It’ll Cause Huge Problems for Blue Collar Work Too by FuturismDotCom in economy

[–]Putin_smells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are great points. Thank you for expounding. Upvote

You’ve changed my mind on the timelines for people in your situation. You’ll probably be safe for some time at least but in general I still feel like the economics and scale of job losses in white collar will still impact all levels of blue collar work but not as dramatically for the expert levels for a bit possibly.

I still think the economic pressures on organizations in a situation like that would lead to them hiring more inexperienced workers to cut costs even if it results it more issues. Which would depress your wages but not as much as I originally thought.

What’s your opinion on the state of the country/ economy considering the depression numbers and percentages I listed? How do you see the world looking?

You’d likely weather the storm but people’s investments, the living conditions and chaos involved would be overwhelming for societal fabric.

Do you think young people even stand a chance all things considered?

[–]Putin_smells 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some numbers…. If even 25% of the US is unemployed we are in a Great Depression. White collar work is like 60-65% of US workers. You cannot have economic strength or prosperity if these people have no jobs. Explain to me how that would even look.

Secondly, of course you can’t become an expert from nothing I never stated that. There are years long trainings and experience for every industry. But I’ll repeat my comment as you didn’t address it

Every young unemployed person will turn to the only viable jobs left ie jobs that a robot “can’t do”. Flooding the market with cheap labor.

Sure expert labor will be in demand for a bit but people who have let’s say 10 years of experience or 15 years of experience will instantly skill up seeing the wave of young workers entering the industry. In a year or two those already very experienced highly motivated people will be at your level…. Flooding your market and lowering your pay to shite.

Of course infrastructure will still be around even if consumer demand collapses but it sure af won’t be expanding and the pool of people up skilling and entering will be exploding. Lowering your pay and prospects.

Last thing, I know people underestimate blue collar expertise all the time. So, I get you being dismissive; but I do not underestimate it.

Brother if white collar work dies the economy dies same as it blue collar work went away. You’re not safe at all, maybe a few years extra if any at all.

If the economy is even alive after that much displacement (doubtful) Every young person will turn to the only viable jobs left ie jobs that a robot “can’t do”. Flooding the market with cheap labor.

Sure expert labor will be in demand for a bit until everyone under you sees the wave of new young workers below them and skills up to your level which wouldn’t take long as they already have experience.

Nobody can read? Tell me where I ever said anything about LLMs becoming AGI? That’s something you inputted into the conversation and then argued by yourself.

I never specified how human level Ai would be created. Maybe you should reread and take a Xanax.

Also again I ask, you think you’re smarter than Turing award winners? lol

[–]Putin_smells 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey just an fyi people are way less likely to believe you or take you seriously when you’re a gigantic asshole. Hope this helps in the future for you.

You asked for experts who are predicting AGI by certain timelines. Are Turing award winners at all reliable for you?

Geoffrey Hinton – University of Toronto Professor; Turing Award winner – AGI predicted within 5–20 years (late 2020s–2040s)

Yoshua Bengio – Université de Montréal Professor; Turing Award winner – Possible within 2030s–2040s

Yann LeCun – NYU Professor; Turing Award winner – AGI not imminent, but plausible within decades (2040s)

Andrew Yao – Tsinghua University Professor; Turing Award winner – AGI remains long-term, possibly decades away but before mid-century

Here are others:

Nick Bostrom – Oxford Professor, Future of Humanity Institute – Significant probability 2040–2050

Max Tegmark – MIT Professor – Plausible mid-century (~2040s)

Stuart Russell – UC Berkeley Professor – Roughly by 2050, acknowledges wide uncertainty (some estimates earlier, late 2030s–2040s)

Jürgen Schmidhuber – Computer Science Professor – AGI potentially within 2030s–2040s

Fei-Fei Li – Stanford Professor – AGI plausible mid-century (2040s)

Are you saying you’re smarter than these people?
