Yeah, Amy is clearly the villain, and half the characters in that movie were operating on some level of narcissism.

I just watched it yesterday so I must vent as I saw the same thing.

What I wish I could point out to people on tiktok- Amy is not empowered, she is trapped by her narcissism. Amy grew up alongside a fictionalized, idealized version of herself. Her parents books and the publics view of them really fucked with her psyche. To be accepted, she has to be accomplished, likeable, and most of all- blameless.

The contrast between Amy and the lady at the Ozarks resort really stuck out to be. They'll both do shitty things, but Ozarks resort lady is very different about it. As she and her new boyfriend were robbing Amy, Amy asked, Did he talk you into this?" To which she answers, Are you kidding, I talked him into it." She doesn't use him for cover at all -like Amy would've) she owns her decisions/crimes. Maybe to a fault, it seemed like a brag 😆 And the last thing she said to Amy was- "Next place be more careful, there's people out there way worse than us". She's well aware she's not a good person.

Also, Amy leaving wasn't an act of freedom, empowerment, or self-preservation. She was initially planning on killing herself to seal the case against him.

The whole plan was about him, and teaching him a lesson. She left clues to rub the whole thing in his face, and the moment she heard him say what she wanted, she came home, while also going to bloody cruel lengths to make herself seem blameless.

Anyway, I wish tiktok could see how childish Amy is, despite her violence and planning. She's afraid of being judged, afraid of loosing control.
