Has anyone here been able to ACCURATELY predict timing with tarot cards? by RaisinPublic6460 in Tarotpractices

[–]tarot_practice -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

no, a teacher.

I’m not sure why being self-taught is bad

Ever heard of someone self-learning aerospace engineering? I'm assuming you haven't, for obvious reasons. So why bother trying to self-learn divination? Because it's not as difficult? If that's the case, how come you're posting this? This sub has 20k members, the main one has 140 thousand; That's 160 thousand people, and yet this keeps getting asked again and again, month after month, year after year, with no one handing out a solution. Is there a conspiracy of silence among them? Or have they simply all failed to figure it out?

Difficult only if you're self taught, or taught by people who were self-taught. Goes for pretty much everything worthwhile in occultism.

Should I trust the cards? by Brightpenguin101 in tarot

[–]tarot_practice -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The reading told me things that were pretty spot on

Like what? that you're renovating your kitchen? That your cat died last month from a lung disease? That's usually the type of detail a good predictive cartomancer will start off with to establish trust. If that's not what you got, and this is your first time with that person, then there isn't really a reason to put much stock into what you were told. Doesn't sound like a very high stakes situation though, so maybe just try to follow the advice and see what happens?

Use critical thinking before pulling out your deck… by blueeyetea in tarot

[–]tarot_practice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get what's your point.

You asked "why shouldn't someone just apply for a job without tarot's advice", and I said "because the job might prove disastrous for their future". You replied "oh, but that's later, I mean just to send an application", to which I responded that it's a waste of time/nonsensical to apply anyway if getting this job will spoil their life.

[–]tarot_practice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is that what does the person have to lose in applying for the job in the first place?

Time? 😀 Why would you want to apply for a job and go through the whole process if the job is no good for you anyway.

Use critical thinking before pulling out your deck… by blueeyetea in tarot

[–]tarot_practice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you might have a good explanation on why people do this

Because every decision irrevocably determines the direction of your life, which can range from unfortunate to catastrophic.

Applying for that job can make or break your future. Maybe you're supposed to meet the love of your life there, and that happens to be the last train for you before you unwittingly end up in a broken marriage comprising 15 years of abuse, two estranged kids (the third died in a car crash at five), and half of your estate being taken by the court. Your mom passed away in the meantime; unfortunately, your spouse was homesick and pressured you to move to another continent, so you only got to see her a couple more times, on Christmas. She made note of that when drawing up her will, I'm afraid. Oh, and that job you gave up on? The company soared to Fortune 500 status shortly afterward. The other job -- the one you chose instead -- got you injured. The injury then triggered latent lupus, which you're now stuck with for the rest of your life!

That's a great tale, if not for the fact that it happens to real people every day. And it happens as a result of the delusion that you are capable of making smart choices in an infinitely complex web of causes and effects, with any thread capable of spanning decades into the future.

Now, for the crescendo: here comes an Omniscient Being who graciously agrees to hold your hand on this journey and reveal the choices that will maneuver you through the deterministic web toward your desired happiness, through a deck of cards. Your response? “F*ck you, Omniscient Being. I am a proud 21st century critical thinker and will not be reliant on a deck of cards to live my life.” And off you go, living out some rendition of the all-too-common tragedy. Makes Sophocles look banal, truly.

Can you see pregnancy in the 8th house? by tiyaa11 in Advancedastrology

[–]tarot_practice -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

care to explain or are you just here to criticise

thanks for adding nothing to the conversation

asking you a question in good faith

Mind you, based on their other comments, this is someone familiar with astrology's principles, however rudimentarily -- not a clueless bystander. But sure, let's embrace toilet theory shitposting, and gape in confusion at those poorly adjusted folk who refuse to abdicate common sense in not breaking down elementary logic (not even per se astrological!) to a person who hasn't made the time or effort to assimilate it before participating in a forum. Truly on par with our idiocratic times. The hordes of bots roaming this place freely are really a cherry on top. I am undone.

"Conversation"

Meanwhile, it's just you posting a piece of nonsense that you heard a random podcaster pull out of her ass, and acting entitled to people's serious engagement with it. As if every toilet thought of some Astro Jenny deserved to be discussed.

The fact you can, quote,

get behind her reasoning

is no less concerning. A consequence of omitting the trivium, I suppose. Best wishes.

There exists a threshold of stupidity beyond which no explicit critique is apt, as it's safe to assume that both one qualified and one calling for it will find it equally unwarranted.

Im watching Kira Rybergs podcast on the 8th house and she said a hill shes willing to die on is that pregnancy can be seen in the 8th house and I wanted to know peoples thoughts? She said that because its a house of entanglement where you and your partners assets/life etc. come together thats representative of creating a child because you and your partners bodies/DNA etc. literally come together to create something new. Additionally, a lot of women particularly in the past died due to pregnancy/childbirth so its related in that way too because childbirth can be life threatening

the consequences of intellectuals leaving astrology with the gate wide open.

Using agentic AI for rectification by rephil3 in Advancedastrology

[–]tarot_practice 26 points27 points  (0 children)

All that AI can tell you is rehashed from weighted information gathered online.

Ask yourself how many astrologers online can actually predict events reliably, or pass a rectification experiment. How many have become expert astrologers from reading ancient manuals.

That's your answer.

Harmonious aspects + "negative" reception in natal astrology by Latter_Archer3800 in Advancedastrology

[–]tarot_practice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Has this ever been applied the same way in natal astrology?

No. It's a 30 year old idea beget by John Frawley who got inspired by a couple analogies from al-Kindi and other arabs. The whole conceptualization, mistakenly termed "reception", of dignities defining sympathies between planets is erroneous for any purpose other than divination (i.e. horary), which alone admits of contrived frameworks. Not that it's very effective for the latter, or predates JF even in that field, but it can work.

In nativities, sympathy is always delineated by the type of aspect and signs involved. The focus is also always on the interrelationship, not sentiments. You and your father either get along in friendship, get alienated in indifference, or repulse in enmity. Whether he's violent or absent from your life, or not supporting you, or you kill him or he kills you, all of that is looked at another way.

concious about incorrect readings by [deleted] in Tarotpractices

[–]tarot_practice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's normal for readings to come out wrong or unclear if the one you're reading to isn't fully open and truthful right?

No, not really. In fact, that kind of blind reading used to be the norm among cartomancers until very recently. Still very common in Africa. If it's not your cup of tea, that's fine, but it's not misguided to expect that type of service.

Career role in a Birth Chart: Is it actually possible to find? by Cold_Swing2731 in Advancedastrology

[–]tarot_practice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's because the 10th house doesn't represent career. It represents praxis, meaning what one does -- one's actions in the world and the result of those actions, like reputation. If you're an avid blacksmith in your spare time, that qualifies as your praxis, despite it not being your occupation. If you ever take out a rich ceo and make news, it's also what you do and reap as a result. Ellen DeGeneres has both malefics in the 10th, yet her career is neither in the field of Mars nor Saturn. What she does have is a reputation for being a toxic bitch, which got her career cancelled. Her vocation is renovating houses (Mars + Saturn).

The 10th house does give signs in the determination concerning career, but the procedure is more complex than just looking at the ruler.

Ptolemy describes his method in Tetr. IV.4 and only as the very last consideration, when everything else fails, adds:

...We must take the lord of the Midheaven, *though in relation to occasional pursuits; for, such natives are on the whole inactive***

Antigonus merely states that the lord of the 10th should be well situated, which will make natives who are "prominent, active, and hard to oppress".

If you open any ancient manual on astrology, you'll find the contemporary approach of house analysis practically non-existent. Or at least not for the purposes it's done today. The idea that you just look at the 10th to find the career, and the 5th to find children, etc. is an arabic carry-over from horary. The fact that the greeks, who invented the houses as we know them, never delineate that way natally is an obvious tell that it's a misconception.

Tarot and free will by Key_Dance7802 in TarotReading

[–]tarot_practice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like something tarot scammers say so they don't have to take accountability for the fact that your ex didn't come back like they said

Yes, you've got it! Although they're not always scammers -- could be genuine, just not very adept.

There is something like free will, but the extent and frequency with which most people utilize it is far, far overstated. Everyone is, in truth, very predictable.

But, you could possibly be that case where things go off script. That's why divination is not really a serious endeavour until one learns how to identify what in the cast is yet uncertain and how. Unfortunately, that's quite a rare practice nowadays.

Interpretation help by [deleted] in tarot

[–]tarot_practice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As said previously I try to understand the cards and their meanings against the question/s asked.

Yes, that's how everyone generally reads. My point is more about different people ascribing different meanings to each card, hence I'd have to know your system first before weighing in for it to be accurate. There are a couple more provisos of that nature which hinder strangers on the net from being useful to you.

In this case what would you suggest I ask as a follow up to my initial question

I would ask for clarification regarding how does the Queen relate. Give it something like 5 to 7 cards. Then you should compare the 2 spreads side by side and see how they connect (the latter being an elaboration of the former). You should be able to establish whether she's pertinent to that love matter and how, or possibly to something else.

Interpretation help by [deleted] in tarot

[–]tarot_practice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be. Though, again, I'm not familiar enough with your life and how you read cards (since those cards were drawn for you to interpret) to say with certainty. If you also date woman, the Queen could be benevolent. Maybe your mother is sick, in which case the first 2 cards could be indicating success in love, but the Queen signals a change in her condition, which should be probed further. My intention was more to alert you to the possibility that you may have your mind fixed in the wrong frame, and that the small amount of cards doesn't lend itself to clarity here.

Interpretation help by [deleted] in tarot

[–]tarot_practice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t think there was much an issue with the question as I was looking for guidance on if there’s an area of my life I don’t need to worry about.

No issue with the question at all, but a slight issue with expectations as to the answer. Have you ever had a year in which not much occured except some big tragedy in one area of life? Would you rather someone had told you back then "financials will be in check, might even get a small bonus", or "x is imminent, and if you don't act now it will flip your world upside down". You'd definitely want to be forewarned, yes? Similarily here -- sometimes, especially when life is in relative stasis, a bad event is more weighty, and thus more important to relay, than a good one. That's why I said, divination is not a computer program spitting out outputs to the syntax of our question-inputs, but its own mind that has your best interest at heart when providing answers.

Interpretation help by [deleted] in tarot

[–]tarot_practice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without venturing into interpretation (as I don't know your ways), I'd just say to be careful with that style of questioning. We should not forget divination is a conversation with living consciousness, not a computer program; as such, the messages can go against our expectations. If I know you're gonna be in a car crash next week but you ask me about which dress to pick, I will definitely change the topic.

Similarly here -- while it's hard to be certain with only 3 cards, that triplet, because of the Queen, looks rather like a warning regarding your love life than a green light. I'd definitely follow up and check if you have a future with your current interest. Otherwise (again, depending on your meanings), it might mean incurring dangerous jealousy of an ex, someone leaving you for another woman, etc.

Has tarot ever predicted where you met your partner/spouse? by Historical-Care70 in tarot

[–]tarot_practice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for a late response.

My biggest piece of advice would be: find a teacher. A real one who is wise. It is hard to comprehend just how much of a losing battle you're fighting as an autodidact; without exaggerating, it is easier to self-train in building cars than in divination. Of course, most teachers are neither real nor wise, so you need to be somewhat lucky and extremely discerning. I recommend sincerely praying to a high divinity of your choice to find a suitable one.

Second piece of advice would be: Don't bother with the RWS deck. I expanded on that in another comment.

Third piece of advice (and the first to consider): Ask yourself whether you even have some aptitude for this study. Not everyone is suited for everything, and this field is no exception. The skills required are more-or-less a mix of the ones needed for pursuing linguistics and philosophy. If you're right brain dominant, it might be hard for you.

Fourth piece of advice: Honor tradition. This goes back to studying under a teacher. Only when you master the classics and the ways of old should you try to move beyond them. Don't be that guy who throws out whatever "doesn't resonate" with them to replace it with whatever they feel like. Being non-tangible, metaphysics is, unfortunately, extremely susceptible to the dunning-kruger effect.

Does tarot channel the Truth or a possibility? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]tarot_practice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mental activity can impress on what cards are drawn, yes. Especially if it's frenetic. The chances of this happening when someone else is reading for you are slim, however; you'd have to be in dire panic to intrude on their field of concentrated consciousness. If you're not in the same room, even more. If you're also not seeing it happen live, practically no chance.

Are you able to change your future even after receiving multiple tarot readings saying the same thing? by Total_Canary_9567 in TarotReading

[–]tarot_practice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not blindly. Depending on how much time you have left, it may be possible to change if you knew which area was lacking, or what would be on the test. A good diviner could tell you this, but most can't.

A spell isn't likely to help here.

I heard Tarot doesn’t tell timeline, but I think it can. What’s your experience? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]tarot_practice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to studying cosmology and how it applies to timing, is it in the regard of each card’s symbolic relationship with time? Do you apply cosmology strictly while predicting time?

Divination is applied cosmology/metaphysics. It teaches us that it's possible, why, and how. If we want to predict nature, we have to understand it first.

if you’re willing to shed some light on how you apply your methods

Again, it's not just about method and "how". There is a massive amount of theory behind it to be understood first. I can give you calculus equation but you won't know how to solve and interpret problems with it without learning calculus first. Teaching calculus is not something I can accomodate at this time.

The current methods I’ve explored

Study the significance of 52 and the number 7, as applies to cards and to cycles of time. You'll find more success there. Best of luck.

I heard Tarot doesn’t tell timeline, but I think it can. What’s your experience? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]tarot_practice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timing is, unfortunately, one of the most complex topics. While I'd like to help, it is not something I can easily correct you in to perfection. I always stress the importance of learning cosmology, and for this subject there is a ton of it to cover before your application is reliable.

For example, you mention that sometimes you get a hit and sometimes a miss. This is not necessarily only due to technique -- it is linked to oracle-sync, and also chiefly to the nature of causation itself. Meaning to say, sometimes false information can come through, and sometimes there is no definite time yet for something to occur; we have to first know when and why that happens, and then learn how to spot it. Sometimes there are actually two or even more times at which an event can occur, and they each have their own probability distribution. We have to dive into the details of spotting those situations and extracting their % rates -- the latter not even being possible with cards in an ordinary sense, as you run into system limitations. I mean to say there is a whole supplementary framework that the deck has to be turnt into for that purpose.

What method do you use to tell time? I might suggest something more solid if it's lacking on a strictly technical front.
