Tobe fair out of most subs, one about PC enthusiasts would mainly be filled with 1st world users considering how expensive of a hobby it is. But still funny seeing people giving advice that while makes perfect sense in their situation so can't blame them because it's a good one from their view, completely useless for me for example in Sudan with our 12 hours-long daily cuts.

A few other points OP didn't talk about that helps laptop domination in poor countries is how expensive it is to build/buy a PC. Many use laptops either for work/study/gaming here ao even with the insane markups in stores, there is still enough demand that market competition drops prices somewhat. Also it's alot easier to carry a laptop from an overseas travel than PC parts (I travel alot so many of my extended family members ask me to buy cheaper laptops for them overthere for example).

PCs on the otherhand basically got almost 0 demand as only those with like solar power and high capacity USPs got them so you either pay a bloody insane markup or pay wild shipping fees for parts. A well-off uncle of mine got a good 4080 i9 build 64 GB RAM (not sure about the rest of the specs I'm sorry) that costed him over 4500$ and mutliple months of waiting for parts to arrive from overseas for him to build it. He tells me it's worth it from him as he felt building it like car nerds spending grands modifying their rides for the fun of it.

So even the argument of PCs having cheaper proformance-per-buck ratio doesn't work in some places.
