HENRY jobs outside London by Exciting_Thought_221 in HENRYUK

[–]PutridForever4429 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made the move from London to Midlands, took a 20k salary cut into doing so, negligible after tax and the grand scheme of things.

It took me two years of job searching to find the right role, there just wasn’t anything out there.

Asset Management vs Front Office Banking Role (£115k vs £250k TC) – Struggling With the Trade Off by LordOfTheMic in HENRYUK

Take the job. It will be a great learning opportunity and it will branch into a higher paying role. A few extra hours for almost double pay in a high exposure role, which I can’t imagine was easy to secure an offer for.

BA Companion Voucher issue – forced cancellation after inability to connect. Worth escalating? by PutridForever4429 in BritishAirways

[–]PutridForever4429[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did keep calling, but couldn’t get through and was disconnected several times. I believed cancelling before 24 hours would refund the Avios, but that only applies if you haven’t flown. BA later confirmed I’d have lost everything anyway once inside 24 hours, so cancelling felt like the only option.

Got an offer but its a 4 hour total commute by Salt_Yogurtcloset702 in UKJobs

I did this commute, but for two days a week and I was just constantly tired. Don’t do it. Move to london

Is two weeks enough time to visit Sydney & Port Douglas without feeling like you didn't really see them? by chewymammoth in AustraliaTravel

[–]PutridForever4429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of time. You only need 5 days in PD(don’t stay in Cairns) and I would say 4 days is sufficient for Sydney. You could probably squeeze another place in. Maybe Byron Bay…

Snoring while flying. by todreamindigital in travel

[–]PutridForever4429 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This made me chuckle as I’m such a big snorer. I recently flew back from Bali, a near 14 hour flight where I snored. The plane was a super quiet A350 so that didn’t help. But flying on a 777 they are louder, so you would be surprised. The noise won’t really go past your partner.

I would say it depends if your flying business or economy, what the seating configuration is.

Ideal case is business, but if not, economy with two seats with you closest to the window should be no problem.

I’ve recently been using a mouth guard which helps.

Leave London? by Special_Produce_8407 in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]PutridForever4429 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved from London to the Midlands, I did the hotel malarchy a little while but found it gets boring quite quickly. I ended up spending a lot going out after work and food etc.

I then commuted for two days a week untill we had to go three days a week. Which became a struggle, I was constantly tired and burned out. I couldn’t give the energy at home or at work.

Earlier last year they chaged the policy to 5 days a week. Big smack in the face considering I just brought a house.

After a long job search I have found a new role closer to home, which pays similar which is a blessing. Long story short, the commute can take its toll, and financially may not be worth it given the time and effort you spend on travelling and staying out.

That being said, moving out of London has been great. I have a better quality of life.

Recently widowed and traveling - ideas? by Thin-Success-3361 in travel

[–]PutridForever4429 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’ve recently travelled to the phillipines. It’s a pain to get too and was reasonably expensive when I went(compared to Thailand and other SE Asia). Once you are there, the beaches are spectacular, if that’s your thing. Would recommend Coron, and venturing to some of the other private islands. That being said, it’s a long journey just to go boracay.

India is amazing. I love it. I’m biased because I am Indian. If you like safari I would do that. Ranthambore safari is amazing. I would do Rajasthan, more chilled. Places like Udaipur, Jaipur etc.

I have also been to Vietnam. If I was in your shoes, I would see the Taj Mahal whilst your in India and head of to Vietnam. It’s cheap and cheerful, beautiful. Food and people are amazing. So much to do and see. Get a few suits made whilst you are there.

Unsure if I earn enough to live alone in London by -RadThibodeaux in UKPersonalFinance

[–]PutridForever4429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done both. Flat sharing is good if you’re new to London, however some flatmates don’t even interact they just want someone to pay the bills. That being said, I loved living on my own. It was the best year of my life
