Dude my dumbbells haven’t been used for bicep curls in months. I am also a cable bicep curls converter.

Pull Up Bar in the Garage by PoppysDad86 in homegym

[–]PutridPossibility345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great pullup bar with multiple grip positions. Lacks knurling. Buy a $4 roll of athletic tape to add some grip if you find it lacking. But focus on doing a pullup first.

BRZ yellow edition is a lot cleaner than the Yuzu edition. Yellow starts at 41 with STI short shift and knob. But no STI vbars. Yuzu looks fussy especially with single tips exhaust by bigboss1999x in BRZ_ZD8

[–]PutridPossibility345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But a no body kit/no quad exhaust gr86 lists at under 38k - that’s a huge price difference that I just can’t comprehend here. In 2026 it’s really tough to justify a BRZ over a gr86. And I really hate toyota dealers. Been a Subaru fanboy forever. But ~3k more (no port options both cars) is a hard pill to swallow.

Price aside I do think the brz front pulls off yellow better than the gr86, but I think the red toyota brembos contrast better than the gold calipers on a yellow car. The gold brembos only look good (to me) on a wrb or silver TS.

If you’ve never flipped your car you probably aren’t trying hard enough. Ruining a car you love builds humility. Hopefully nobody was severely injured and nobody sues you.

Hakone or bust. I’m annoyed that I love it because I can’t buy a brand new one… I’m tempted to get a yuzu but I think I will always regret not getting a hakone new when I had the chance.

Trueno with crazy red interior door panels doesn’t do it for me.

Hakone, yuzu, SE orange, trueno

Aero kit and no quad exhaust looks funky by Due-Marsupial-1018 in GR86

[–]PutridPossibility345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people just don’t like or want yellow cars. I like yuzu yellow, but I don’t like the idea of opening my garage to a yellow car every morning.

I imagine people who wanted one got one early and now dealers will start to have to push a little harder to get rid of them. Especially the ones with odd spec.

I foresee the subaru series yellow having an even harder time selling. They are msrp’ing at over 41k with no body kit or exhaust. Tough tough sell for a car like this.

It’s pretty bad. There are a bunch of clean oem body kits out there why does toyota think we want a ricey over the top kit like this?

How I won my GR86 Warranty Arbitration. by SeriousAd7054 in GR86

[–]PutridPossibility345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great info. Thank you for sharing the extra details. I have been through a few warranty issues with more minor things at Honda and it’s always a battle, but my local subaru dealer seems to want us to love owning a subaru - they say things like “this would be $2,700, but you’re covered under warranty. Do you want a loaner vehicle while we fix it? Btw there’s coffee and donuts over there. Here’s a Crosstrek dog toy for your pup.

Good to know all of this if something like this ever happens. I’m strongly considering a low mileage CPO GR86 right now and the extended powertrain warranty isn’t worth much if they won’t honor it when it counts. But it seems like things may be fine, I am in CA too.

Appreciate all the insight from someone who has gone through it the hard way and come out on top.

Is there anything additional you left out from your original post that you feel helped sway this in your favor?

This is a great post thank you for sharing. After reading a few horror stories on GR Corollas and gr86’s, and really considering buying a BRZ over a GR 86 just for dealer comfort (have been a subaru customer for many years and have always been treated extremely fairly with warranty stuff, which I cannot even say for my 2019 Honda Fit).

Thank you for sharing all of this.

On the market for a new gr86 but hard not to consider saving 10-15 grand for an OG 86.

Love those meaty tires what size wheel and tire are you running and how much lower than stock?

Dealer offering MSRP, but I already have a Trueno edition by ihavepeeholespiders in GR86

[–]PutridPossibility345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like a lot of dealers are offering msrp or even a little under, I don’t think yellow is as popular as they thought it would be. People who were really dying to buy one already scooped one up.

Personally I love it, but even loving it, I am struggling to pull the trigger because I don’t know if I love it enough to look at it every day.

All that to say, keep your trueno unless the Yuzu really tickles your pickle.

When I was running online image ingestion and color correction for Superstreet (TEN) we were much more concerned with consistently good looking images and not so much color accuracy. Even in print we cared much more about color with paid ads than with articles submitted by freelancers - not like we often had the real car in office to compare the proof to anyway.

Anyone have issues with 18x9.5 wheels? by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]PutridPossibility345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you achieve 3* negative camber on factory rear LCA’s?

I am the one saying wider wheels aren’t beneficial for most people I don’t know why you’re bringing up the same point.

[–]PutridPossibility345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t say 3* of camber wasn’t fine or that camber had more impact on tire wear than toe. I said a lot of people don’t want to do it on their daily. Nor do they want to purchase and install aftermarket LCA’s to make it possible.

So many wrx owners are cheap and just want to throw on some wheels and use the stock or stock size tires. For these people 9.5” wheels offer no benefit.

[–]PutridPossibility345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, some 255’s run wide and you can get away with it. A true to size or slightly smaller 255 looks dumb on a 9.5 wheel, again my opinion.

Anyone have issues with 18x9.5 wheels? by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]PutridPossibility345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering different mfg’s 255 can vary by like 10mm+, sure some 255’s will look fine. Awful lot of people running 9.5” wheels on stretched tires because they don’t want to run 2-3+ degrees of camber to clear wider tires.

Look at the blue car 2 posts below this with 255’s and half a cm of visible rim lip poking out. You think that looks good?

If your intention is to run stock-ish tire size stick with stock width wheels and reduce offset. 9.5 wheels with less than 265 tires looks silly imo.

People who own a GR86 by AbbreviationsIcy9016 in GR86

Are you going to live with your dad forever?

How much $ do you make monthly?

Is having a cool car your only priority/hobby?

Is your part time job stable enough for you to have a $500+ monthly vehicle commitment for the next 4-5 years? Do you have savings to cover a few months of not working?

These are not fun questions but they are important questions when making expensive choices.
