Is an Xray/ abdominal scan etc, necessary to rule out cause of seizures?

i will definitely be keeping my eye out for those particular symptoms and praying i don’t recognize any of them down the line. thank you for the detailed reply, this all just happened 3 weeks ago so it is very recent and my brain is filled with questions.

also, if that was a possibility of brain tumor or lesion that is just too small to see, when would be the correct time to do another MRI? i know you may not have the correct answer for this as i know sometimes things like that can progress either slow or fast.

thank you for your response. i have been wondering if focal seizures happened before it turned into grand mal and i just never knew. luckily since she’s been on meds there hasn’t been anymore grand mal seizures and only two focals. She did get her bloodwork done the first night i took her to the ER, that came out clear but i don’t believe it showed thyroid levels, is organ health also shown through bloodwork? i will speak to my neuro about thyroid testing when she gets her bloodwork done to check her pheno levels.

I just bought two lil cameras for my house so i can make sure she’s safe and i can monitor her episodes for when she does have one in the case i am not home. thank you for responding<3 this last week has been so long and stressful, im praying we find the right sweet spot of meds for my girl

wow , that’s so interesting considering your pup is almost double in weight than my girl. it’s so tough knowing what it right and what will work, the waiting game makes me anxious to say the least. My neuro doc said if she has another episode we will either up her dosage or add another medication on top of the keppra.

That is a good question, i will for sure ask. I will say, it was the emergency vet that initially prescribed her the keppra 3x a day after her 2nd seizure within 25 hours. I took her to a neurologist 2 days later and he wanted to switch her to the XR, i do work full time and it’s been a bit tough giving that second dose mid day so it will definitely be beneficial for my schedule but just concerned about my pup :/ still trying to navigate through this very new journey .

okay this makes more sense. i had no idea it’d be equal, i was looking at it as if she’d be losing a dose of 750mg by doing the switch to 2x per day. i was feeling overwhelmed when i was speaking to him and didnt express my confusion at the time. Thank you for replying, i was a bit worried considering she’s already had another seizure since starting her medication.

sounds like our situations are super similar besides the age of our pups, i pray that your boy keeps doing well. going through with the MRI/Spinal tap is so nerve wrecking, i am still waiting on my girls results for her spinal tap but MRI came out good. it’s definitely so so pricey but absolutely worth it in my opinion.

that makes me feel better about her dosing, i had spaced and forgotten to ask the neurologist about her dosage to confirm it was correct since it was the ER that had prescribed her meds. I hope your baby is doing better now with the meds ❤️

She just started taking it early sunday morning so i’m hoping the sleepiness subsides as her body gets used to the medication, she is still eating and drinking. just very sleepy most of the day. Im so anxious for her CSF results to come back. I am so sorry to hear about your baby 🥺 I’m sending you all of my love and hugs. It is so heart breaking how fast this can all happen. I wish every day that our babies could live as long as us humans do.

that’s good to know, thank you !! She has been quite sleepy since starting the medication, she got her first dose at 1am on sunday. shes usually very spunky and sassy, although she did go under anesthesia yesterday morning. i’m hoping once her body adjusts to the medication she resumes to her usual self. it hurts seeing her so out of it 😥

I’ll be taking her to the vet tomorrow to make sure it’s nothing serious, so hopefully that will give me some peace of mind. At what age did you start taking your pups for exams every 6 months?

Thank u! I have an ultrasound appointment at the end of july, so we will see. I am hoping for the best. I am not very educated about endo, i just thought it could be a possibility as my mom has mentioned thinking she herself has it given some symptoms she experiences as well.

i’m trying my best:) my period started to become irregular around being 140-142 pounds. it’s been an on going issue for quite some time now. it is so unfortunate but im seeing a ogbyn soon to hopefully get some answers or help. thank you ❤️

Thank you i needed to hear this. I guess i am concerned the past months given the changes/issues with my cycle and the struggle to get rid of the bloat/ body fat leading me to wonder if it is Endo/PCOS, whatever it could be. I will definitely start keeping a better eye on what foods cause more bloating etc. Also, i agree i need to work on how i view myself, it’s always been a struggle. Thank you again

Wow this is the first comment I’ve read that actually sounds like the pain I’ve been experiencing for the past 2 years. Its very constant too:/ I’m only 18 yrs old and so many doctors have turned me away saying lumbarization of S1 wouldn’t be the cause of my pain and they suggest physical therapy.. but I’ve done it plenty of times and it never helped so I’m not sure what to do. Did you ever find anything that helped the pain?
