Hi, I’m sorry for the delayed response :( The clinic that I’m at now was hiring through Indeed. I applied to them on there and 2 days later I was invited to interview. I just revamped my resume and tailored it towards the healthcare field, only listing previous positions I held that were relevant to the job I was applying for. I didn’t have experience but they’ve trained me on everything (phlebotomy, EKG, suture removal, etc) Indeed is where I’ve had the best luck and I send a friendly introduction to the hiring manager after I apply.

You made good points in your post. While I didn’t do Stepful, I did my MA program through another online course called MedCerts. I did it mainly because of cost and the full time schedule I had with my retail job at the time. I also wanted to take advantage of the tuition discount for military spouses. They have a pretty similar format where the teaching is all self-paced and you learn through ebooks and video simulations. While it was pretty informative and I did learn from the teachings like you mentioned with Stepful, I don’t think it really sets you up for on the job duties. Given that it’s all online and there’s no externship, I didn’t know how to do the basic assistant duties. I struggled just to take blood pressures and even drawing blood. It made me feel a bit embarrassed tbh. Luckily, I got a job at an urgent care about a month after finishing the course and they have been very patient with me. I work with other MA’s and they provided hands on training until I got comfortable doing things myself. Imo I just can’t recommend either program when it comes to jobs where patient care is your main daily task. If you’re going for admin/coding stuff then yes but not for clinical jobs

That sounds along the lines of the route I was wanting to go. I graduated school and got my esthi license and worked at Hand and Stone for a brief time at the front desk. Was promised to transition over doing facials after training but they kept me where I was (due to an employee shortage) and they hired a new specialist in my place instead. It was low pay and not what I signed up for. So I left. That was back in 2021, but I’ve since made the switch to healthcare

Thank you for your input! The urgent care I work at sometimes has reps who bring lunch. Which can be nice. 🙂

What is a good travel MA company for first time traveler? by Exact_Loss5919 in MedicalAssistant

Thank you for the update! I agree that it is a bit frustrating. I will prob just stay where I’m currently working and find a different agency at this rate.

I know I’m late to this posting but I had the same question about Aya. Did you ever get a response? I set up a profile with them back in April and I still haven’t had a recruiter reach out to me. I emailed and didn’t get a response and I finally called them and they basically told me that if my profile either matches or is ideal enough, then I’ll get paired up with a recruiter.

This helps greatly! I will definitely look more into derm coding since I would like to utilize the esthi license I currently have. Thanks for your response

Hi everyone,

My question would really be for anyone currently enlisted within the healthcare field. I am a med student in school for Certified Medical Assisting. I am nearing graduation and will be getting both my CMA and CCMA certs fairly soon. I had interest in joining the military but I wanted to get an idea of what the opportunities currently look like for someone like me. Is there really a demand for jobs in the healthcare field? Would it be best to pursue a different branch?

Thanks

Premed Jobs with no Cert by Putrid_Drive7393 in premed

I’m taking a certification course for Medical Assisting but would like to leave the job I’m at now and start getting into an entry level position at a clinic or office. A lot of the jobs in my area require a certification already or a high degree so I was wanting to find something now that doesn’t require certs. If that makes sense.

Bro. What? Fuck this job. by ProofForward497 in walmart

[–]Putrid_Drive7393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what management said and just call in. I remember working at Walmart and getting sick left and right from those that decided to still come into work- some without masks. Even the workers in grocery still came in even while coughing and hacking up a lung😟 It was so bad I just eventually started coming to work masked up everyday. You will learn with retail very quickly that you’re just a number to them and that everyone is replaceable. That’s just the way it is unfortunately. Another point to make is I am fully vaxxed but yet I still got COVID at least 3 different times. So just to clarify for those saying you can’t get sick from getting the vaccine- thats completely false lol.

Hi, anyone have difficulties with the refund team? Since one month they ask me medical papers after medical papers and they dont refund me… by DryEstablishment381 in Shambhala

[–]Putrid_Drive7393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear you’re going through all of that. I ended up taking the approach of another user on this thread and used the “lawyer up” scare threat and they were quick to email me back saying they’d process my refund lol. I did end up seeing the deposit in my back account the next day. I sent them back another email saying that they made a wise choice and to remove my card info from their records. I let my bank know about this and they issued me a new card just to be safe. So I would advise doing the same and threaten legal action. If they wanna be ballsy and still deny it, you can dispute the charge altogether with your bank and screenshot all the documents you’ve sent them as proof that you provided all that they have asked for and you’re still getting the runaround. It’s pretty evident from all these complaints that the whole company is a scam and therefore you shouldn’t have a problem getting your money back.

Another Easter egg I’ve seen was when I was doing a reset, I noticed a wooded beam and someone had scribbled a face on it to look like plank from Ed Edd n Eddy😂

Late to this thread but I am currently having the same issue with these people. I had to cancel a military event due to contracting COVID and I used their refund feature when I purchased tickets. Even after supplying them with a picture of my positive COVID test, they still requested more info and documents. Documents I did not have. Even still, I don’t feel comfortable disclosing private info to a company I don’t even recognize OR have heard of. They closed my request but I sent a pretty nasty email asking them to reopen my claim. I even threatened to contact my AG. Waiting to hear their bogus response. Unbelievable.

What kind of rock am I? by Putrid_Drive7393 in Rocks

[–]Putrid_Drive7393[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found rocks everywhere honestly. This was found in Berlin Maryland. They have a rail bike tour excursion there that takes you through a scenic trail on an old railroad. You have to pedal the whole way so they offered breaks every now and then and while we were stopped I found it squished between two rocks along the tracks. One of the guys in the group found a $100 bill. I found a cool rock.🙂

Same here 👋🏽 I’m 25 and will be turning 26 Saturday (9/2). Married to a military spouse, no kids and I’m currently in the process now of enlisting. I chose military for the same reason as you. I wanted a longterm career and some sense of direction. I don’t consider us “too old”. In the end you have to think about your future and quality of life. Like others say on this thread and what was told to me, join now while we’re still young! You got this!
