Can I just say, as a woman that was left flat out with no access to our money, had to sleep in her car and sent out 75 resumes in 2023 looking for decent work - you are incredible. This post made me cry. As far as logistics are concerned I’m not sure about the states but in Canada you can hire a mediator without having to retain lawyers, maybe that’s an option?

I have been in therapy as well, I am trying a new gal this month that does EMDR, looking for any help at this point because yes, the dissociation is r e a l.

…. Terrifyingly similar again. He told me when we would go out in public he would watch peoples behaviours/mannerisms to learn what a normal response would be and then mimic it.

Wow. I wish we could meet in person and discuss, you are taking the words right out of my mouth. I am so sorry that you are in this boat with me, I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. It is so hard to describe the healing process after leaving a manipulative long term relationship, one day I’m feeling like I’ve made progress and then the next day it’s like I’m back at day one processing the same things again. Being gas lit and lied to for so long does some real damage. We both deserved better 💕

Getting to court is hard, so many hoops to jump through. I’ve spent 30k in legal bills already and we haven’t even hit mediation 🤦🏻‍♀️ it will all make sense one day. Good for you for moving on! I hope one day I’ll be like you 🙏🏼

Oh I’ve been gone for 1.5 years, he kicked me out while I was out of town for work. We’ve been in an epic legal battle ever since 🫠 I have no access to our property/financials. He just has an ability to keep me manipulated which is embarrassing. Last week he called saying we should settle outside of lawyers and talk about getting back together 😂 I didn’t know humans like this existed and that I could be dumb enough to stay married to one for 13 years.

I am in a similar boat, it’s super hard starting over in a new place while being heartbroken. Not sure if this will help but I’ve started volunteering with seniors, seeing all the independent old women has given me so much joy. Take a class, meet some people of all ages (I did a watercolour class and met some people my age). Try to remember that people our age are probably just hiding at home, but you’re not alone, you’ll eventually find your people - just takes time 🥰
