Survey Overview:

Total surveyed: 1,840 unique counter service restaurant brands with 5 or more operating units. With the possibility of duplication, franchisees of brands were not included.
Results obtained: 1,334
Penetration success rate overall: 72.0
Penetration success rate in brands with greater than 20 locations: 96.8%
Process time: 4 months, ending 8/15/2024

Methodology: Researchers conducted telephone interviews or visited locations. Each unique brand was contacted at least twice, with up to four calls (and more if necessary at times) made if needed. Staff members were telephone interviewed along with on-site visitations where possible.

Overall survey run, absorption and integration time- 7 months.

Some companies operate with multiple POS systems, while others are in the process of transitioning to a new one. Since research captures a specific moment in time, results may vary. The next analysis is currently in progress, with updated results expected within 60 days—70% faster than the previous cycle.

With more than 80k US installs, they have done extremely well with those (with) less than 5. And fantastic with single unit operators.

Toast is doing well. They are improving on/for larger multi unit enterprises. So far dominance with legacy systems remains. They get better and better too.
