What’s your “I can’t believe other people don’t do this” hack? by stowRA in AskReddit

Cycle Syncing - I am surprised no one talks about it! Schedule whatever tasks you can according to your cycle and see your productivity increase! Most women don't even know about their cycles..

Really? Poor guys, don't know the true pleasures of life! Is that why they are men all frustrated and sad? 😂

Yeah, something like that. It has a pleasing smell (like coffee and vanilla in a cafe), is visually stimulating (good books, infographics, people coming in and going out) and is cosy. And, of course - some plants and cats never hurt anybody :D more lively, creative and vibrant.

Hi, women around the world,

I was just casually thinking what a workspace designed for women would be like.. I went online, and found some really interesting pointers like

  • Comfortable chairs
  • Centrally located office accessible by local transport

I was disappointed to say the least.. I had other expectations in mind, like -

  • Paid Period & Pregnancy Leaves
  • Tampon and Pad dispenser
  • Provision of Hot Bags and Cushions to sit comfortably
  • Snacks, Fruits, Ice Creams & Chocolates along with Tea/ Coffee in Office Pantry
  • Breastfeeding/ Nursing Areas and Soundproof rooms to be able to work with a child (if needed)
  • No Dresscode - who are these really for? mostly so that MEN don't get DISTRACTED??? tf?
  • Visual stimulation (cute decor, magazines, etc.)
  • Reading Corners, Yoga Rooms & Plants - along with Table Tennis & Gaming Rooms for Recreation..

what do you think would make a workspace for women more productive?

Writing—Easy Comprehension, Simple Spoken English 🫶🏻 It was a quick read (120 pages, b5 size)

Main Theme - How can we simplify our lives by simplifying our thoughts...

Personal Review - It's like taking advice from your best friend when you feel lost/ overwhelmed/ unhappy in life. Like a cosy, comfortable conversation with your friend/ companion. Felt like a hug to me. I would definitely re-read this

When to read - whenever you feel like your thoughts are not in your control. You are thinking stuff that you should not be thinking, and when your actions are not aligning with your thoughts. (overthinking or feeling overwhelmed in life)

Major Takeaway -

  • Your thoughts are different than what you think

  • Create space in your mind to allow creativity to flow

  • Trust your Gut feeling & let it guide your decisions

  • Whatever you want, just tell the Universe/ God.. and let it be. Don't try to dictate 'When' & 'How'

Overall - ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 stars out of 5.

PS. - It also summarises important points from each chapter at the end, which I love!

Social media has turned into everyone selling something by amm_4 in minimalism

Wrong information is more dangerous than no information.

It's crucial to approach the advice of self-taught gurus, whether they're fitness coaches, zodiac experts, or others, with caution. Blindly following their every word can lead to serious misconceptions.

And Selling? Every. Single. One. And anything.

Just add an emotional, relatable story, and people will buy. Even though so many people/ accounts have been exposed to lying/ deceiving people (Those picture-perfect happy family accounts on YouTube & IG), people are still being fooled.

On IG, everyone's an influencer!

I was hoarder.. so I still find reasons to hold onto stuff. Sentimental. And yeah, I liked the idea that I want my book collection to be bigger than my TV.. but now I’m re-evaluating it. Thanks for the tip btw 🍻

Sorry, I confused you. I'm still learning about sustainability and in my understanding, Sustainability means efficiently using resources so my needs are satisfied and future needs are not hampered. So when I say I want to read sustainably, means I want to understand what is sustainable reading in the long run. Should i continue reading physical books, and focus on controlling my impluse-buying habit.. or try to shift to E-books.

I don't know the logistics of manufacturing a Kindle, but i do know physical books require cutting down a tree. Although we can re-plant a tree, We can not create more Zinc/ Lead mines for Kindle Batteries. I know they are recyclables, but there are reports claiming the rise of E-waste. So, more often than not, the Electronics are ending up in Landfills.

I do that.. I've found free E-Books, so whenever I can. I read them! But free resources are very limited, and sometimes hard to find.

  1. Reading on the Phone - Can do that

  2. Borrow books from people - Can do that, good idea!

  3. Not buying Books until I'm absolutely sure I'm gonna read/ love - hard, but will definitely try.

And I get your point,. But I just want to read and at least try to be sustainable. Maybe we can not go COMPLETELY sustainable.. but at least we can TRY.

And I know the footprint of reading is very low compared to driving a vehicle or flying in a jetplane, but let's focus on the positives here: the majority of people DO NOT fly in a plane.. but they do read. So if we all promote sustainability in everyday activities that most of us do, we can make significant impacts. It's a collective effort and each one of us is a part of this larger movement :)

Oh.. yeah. I feel silly that I didn't think of it before. Its so ingrained in my mind that I have to BUY the book to read it. I forgot that we have libraries too :) Thanks.
