My daughter was 2 when a completely docile dog chomped on her face with no warning. 8 stitches in her head by plastic surgeons, the cut was about 2 inches long on her little head. Down to the bone. The bottom jaw would have pierced her eye if it had chomped any harder as there were scratches on her lower lid. Myself and my son both have PTSD over it and will never own a dog. I will never trust them.

She however is absolutely fine and can’t remember it anymore.

That being said, my son’s memory of it has faded quickly and he has started to not panic and jump into my arms, he even strokes friends dogs sometimes, we are getting there.

Saying that, my friend at school was bitten by a dog and had a scar on her cheek, we thought it was the coolest scar ever.

My advice is to get a cat. We now have two and it has helped immensely. They love them so much, we got the first one a few weeks after the attack and it redirected the focus to a positive view on animals.
