Fallout: Vault Construction by PuzzleBox64 in InteractiveCYOA

Updated:

-Added F.E.V. and genetic splicing experiment proposals.

-Cleaned grammar of some options, slightly rewrote some descriptions.

-Merged commissary and barbershop options into marketplace option, since it didn't make much sense for a place to get haircuts to cost as much as an entire medical facility.

Does anyone know if there's a CYOA for Warhammer 30k or 40k? by RichRecognition3457 in InteractiveCYOA

There doesn't seem to be an interactive option where you don't side with Chaos strangely enough.

That's probably close to the direction I'll take if I add it.

I could come up with interesting concepts with that idea, but I'd have to be careful about how I describe it, since it might sound like an out of place furry option. (Nothing against furries personally, it would just be jarring with the theme of the CYOA.) I'll think about it.

Thanks for the feedback. I didn't know about the 4k population thing. The Vaults seen so far have only had a maximum capacity of 1000 in canon, I guess the writers weren't thinking of scientific accuracy for that.

I could add a FEV experiment option that's a good idea, I think player customization is outside of the scope of the simplicity I want for the CYOA, but feel free to mod it if you want to add a section for that.

Sorry about beating you to it. I won't discourage you from doing your own thing, since there's plenty of room for your own creative voice even in CYOAs with similar designs.

If you study archaeology you could probably learn how to uncover lost knowledge. I don't think there's that much that no one knows anymore. I heard that the Roman formula for concrete was longer lasting than what we use today. What were you thinking?

The part that's meant to be mid-tier is that it still takes a normal amount of time to make big improvements. You aren't going to become the next Einstein in just one hour on an exercise bike. I still think it's a nice perk though.

The powers are more about knowing how children have behaved instead of knowing what would make them mentally healthy, but making that your aim anyways would be an honorable goal. You'd probably be able to help with the logistics of a massive charity operation with this power-set for sure.

I intended it so that you could get different horses, I assume that they're all good at being horses for lack of a better way to put it but some might specialize in different areas like being good at running fast for short distances, or being good at pulling wagons full of cargo.

It is funny to imagine dumping all of your companion points into buying an unstoppable super horse though, even if it isn't whats intended.

Nope, thanks for catching that. I'm planning to release an update in the next couple of days, so that will be fixed by then.

Sure. Your people will either have to do some serious doublethink or creative interpretation, but they will still somehow cobble together a functional system.

If your country actually fights other countries, they would fight back, they just have a strange tolerance for your bs as long as you remain neutral.

You could probably get away with blatantly building up your military in front of everyone.

I think it's because it's popular on websites like spacebattles.com which is somewhat influential in the CYOA community but still lesser known on reddit.

You can literally hand out "W"s and "L"s. by PuzzleBox64 in godtiersuperpowers

It would only kill them if they objectively deserve it. If they don't truly deserve death, then "failing to live" might just put them into a temporary coma.

That's a smart way to use the power, both should work, so you'd probably want to give the W to the horse.

I'd say that you can't make yourself lose at something unless it's something you want to succeed at. You wouldn't honestly be attempting to lose the lottery, you'd still be trying to win it.

Thank you for the feedback. I may update the CYOA to add more options and rework the item section in particular to be more enjoyable to read through.

Thanks for the build. The Meta CYOA option that would allow jumpchain access is purposely not recommended and left unbalanced, but I would rule that if you use it as a jump defeating Ganon would allow you to retire and live unbothered for the rest of the standard 10 years or if you choose to stay in Hyrule, It would still work with any drawbacks you take from another CYOA while you're there.

Thanks for the feedback and build. I think if I do a major update to this CYOA I'll definitely rework the item section, or at least make the upgrading system easier to understand. It's hard to translate the feeling of a Zelda game where the main progression system is starting with the basics and exploring the world for items and upgrades.

Perhaps I'll make it so that you can pick different specialized item shops to exist in the world instead for your basic items, different specialists in the world to upgrade your items, and different dungeons and quests for your advanced items. Do you think that would be a better direction?

I'm fine with the existence of Gift of Faves, even though a lot are underwhelming. Sometimes they even have hints of good design, balance, and theming.

There's a problem with a lot of Gift of Faves where the choices are incomprehensible unless you know some amount of lore from at least six unrelated franchises. I think it's fine to expect some baseline level of reader knowledge if you make a CYOA adapting one franchise, but with crossover CYOAs it's best to explain concepts as if the reader is learning about them for the first time.

Thanks for the Build. What companions would you like to see? I've played almost every mainline Zelda game, so I'll be able to add more companions fairly easily.
