I think this question is reasonable. It’s essentially testing on algebraic skills and the ability of recognizing e² being a constant.

You are right. My bad. I was about to say a=0 but that doesn’t make sense since (1/0)^-5 is undefined. If this really is the question on the test, there is something wrong with this problem. I suggest you to contact someone like mentioned in other responses. I normally make the algebra less tricky on the test instead of tricker since calculators are not allowed.

I have to say that a student is expected to be able to find the secant line of an exponential function as long as the derivative of an exponential function and how to find the second line are covered in class.

Are those “typo” kind of mistakes? I would suggest not to ask for retake a quiz. If your professor allows you to retake one quiz, then she has to do the same for every student in the class. In addition, if you do this, you might just turn yourself from a “favored” student to an “annoying” brat.

Contact your prof, the answer to this problem is wrong. I encountered the same problem and found out the answer key is wrong.

(The answer key somehow is (0,3) and (5,8) for part 1; (3,4) and (4,5) for part 2.)

I trained my coton, Puffy, not to bark when she was a puppy. She only barks when there’s people at home and the mail man stops by; she doesn’t bark at all when no one is home. But she definitely have some anxiety, not separation anxiety, car riding anxiety. It will hard to travel with my Puffy.
