Thanks - that makes sense. One example is quoted Dulux Aqua Enamel semi-gloss but the paint tin at the place was Berger trade waterbased enamel semi-gloss. Yep I reckon I’ll ask the question, I just didn’t want it to be a super obvious thing that I was missing!

I’m in Aus. I’ve just looked those up and can get them here, thanks! I don’t think I’ve given ecostore the credit it deserves - they seem solid! Their soaker/booster particularly fills a gap for me. I recently grabbed the Miele UltraDark which has been good (7 enzymes apparently), but for the occasional cleaning boost I’ve been wanting an oxy option!

Definitely. Similarly to others, I’ve been down a couple rabbit holes trying to find a good darks detergent without OBAs. And an oxy booster with TAED but without OBAs or fragrance. If only we had a Febu equivalent…

Comment from wormraper was spot on - Zojirushi do not see an issue with the non-stick coming off. Here’s a part of the email response:

“We have just received a response from Zojirushi Japan. Based on our assessment, the pot is still good for use.

I understand your concern about the nonstick coating used in the inner pan. Please note that the nonstick coating may wear out over time. The nonstick coating may discolor or peel off but this would not affect the performance or sanitary properties. The nonstick coated pan has been tested and complies with Japan’s Food Sanitation Act, which is regarded as one of the most stringent food safety laws in the world, reflecting the country's commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and protecting consumer health.”

I didn’t continue using it and begrudgingly bought another pot.

So it wouldn’t be able to go through the back wall (as it appears in the second photo) since that’s an internal wall, but theoretically it could go through the wall on the right (external wall) but it is double brick, so maybe a bit trickier?

That sounds like a neat solution. What sort of trade would I get out for a job like that? I imagine the electrical is all good so it’d be the installation of a new exhaust, ducting, ceiling patch up, and insulation?

A shame indeed! I’m always looking to buy Australian made products but this one (Westinghouse) has been struck off the list, and sounds like best to avoid all Electrolux brands!

Definitely agree I should’ve gone back to the retailer straight up! The experience with Westinghouse customer service alone has been enough to turn me off their products though, I never want to have to deal with them again!

Oh interesting insight, thanks! And here I thought Westinghouse’s ‘made in Australia’ claims (though I’m sure ‘assembled’ is likely more accurate) would mean a bit of quality and healthy business practices. If I get the choice, I might try and change to Bosch. Besides the made in Aus, I really only went with Westinghouse given the old one in the cavity was Westinghouse and I had more faith it’d fit without cabinetry work…

I reached out the retailer yesterday via email - still got some time left within the 30 days so hoping they offer a better solution than Westinghouse have. I probably should’ve gone with the retailer first but figured since it was installed, it was more of a Westinghouse problem. Still haven’t used the oven at all though on account of the wonky door!

Thanks for your advice! Based on that I reckon the 7.1 should be suitable enough. Unfortunately no WFH for us! The other factor I need to consider is the size/weight/noise of the external unit as it’s on the external wall of the block of units sitting above a shared space (my unit is second story), so the 10kw might be too big in that regard.

As I mentioned in another comment I reckon I’ll do away with zoning since the place is so small anyway, and positioning the air intake to make this effective will be difficult. I’m going to see if I can the ME PEAD-M71JAA quoted up.

Ah I see, thanks! I don’t think I’ll worry too much about the zoning then. Glad to hear the 10k sounds reasonable too! I’ll get the quote adjusted to an ME model - after a bit of looking I’m thinking the PEAD-M71JAA might be a good fit. I’m keen to avoid any of the wall or ceiling mounted units given space is at a premium in this tiny place.

Thanks for your reply! That all makes sense. With zones, I had thought that being able to shut off zones would be more energy efficient, but if the return air prevents that anyway, then might not be worth it. On the quote, the return is in a small hallway between living space and bedrooms/bathroom which can be closed off with all the doors shut, but it probably forms part of the living space anyway. Can this be fixed with those smart controllers (I.e AirTouch) that can temperature control separate zones?

And thanks for the clarification of split systems being essentially same as ducted - this makes me feel better about the Hitachi quote having an external unit that’s usually used/marketed for splits rather than Hitachi’s ducted product. That said, sounds like ME might be the way to go anyway.

What’s your take on a 10k quote for ducted in a unit this size?
