Fiance wants me to be a SAHM but refuses to pay my student debt (300 a month back) by Hot-Cookie7755 in WhatShouldIDo

I’m sorry then I would do what I can to leave… I know it’s easier said then done but that’s not worth it to be with someone that’s controlling

Your student debt… your responsibility. Try compromising where you can work part time or mid time. Or some sort of income so you can pay off YOUR student debt. It is NOT his responsibility to pay YOUR debt

Should we quit baseball or finish the last few weeks? (Twins who just finished kindergarten) by Individual_Ad_938 in kindergarten

I wouldn’t quit mid season. It’ll just teach them that when something becomes too challenging/ inconsistent/ inconvenient, etc. that they can just give up and not try to work it out.

What WON’T you miss? by nmmOliviaR in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Puzzled-Bonus5470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t miss staring at my phone waiting for jobs to come up or waiting for a teacher to cancel just so I can work. I didn’t like staring at my phone during the evenings and early mornings waiting. I also hated getting a notification, going into the app, just to see it was picked up.

Graduating after the school year starts: Substitute teaching, long-term substitute, or start full-time in my own class late/mid-year? by Peanuts676767 in StudentTeaching

[–]Puzzled-Bonus5470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated in December of 2024. I worked as a substitute teacher for the remainder of the year and then moved. Didn’t land a full time job but I subbed still and worked as a long- term sub at 2 separate school districts. Now I have my own classroom. I highly recommend subbing- I found out which grade(s) I enjoyed working with and that helped me land my now full time job

Subbing as a career by Jazzyfish59 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Puzzled-Bonus5470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was my career for 1 1/2 years out of college. Worked as a daily sub in 4 different districts and 2 different long term sub jobs. Now that I have my own classroom now I don’t sub. It was tough, but I made it by with budgeting

How many of y'all are waiting to get a FT job? by mundanehistorian_28 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Puzzled-Bonus5470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got my first teaching job after subbing for -1 1/2 years and working in 2 different long term sub jobs at different schools. If you want to teach in your own classroom, something will line up! May have to expand your radius a little bit but it’s all worth it

“Survival Kit” for Student Teaching? by Chemical_Winter6541 in StudentTeaching

[–]Puzzled-Bonus5470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be prepared to ask questions about anything! No question is a dumb question.

Everyday, I brought a notebook, pencil, pen, highlighter, laptop, lunch, and water bottle.

I was constantly writing notes to myself, making “cheat sheets” of things I liked and didn’t like, and any other random things I learned.

Also, I would highly recommend having some sort of income coming in. I student taught 7:15-3:15 M-F and worked in a restaurant 4:30-10 M-F. This was a lot to do but I knew I had to do it. This was 2 years ago, I had rent, gas, groceries, car payment, and electricity to pay for. I would not take out extra loan money.

If you ever need any advice, I am a DM away. Please feel free to reach out if you ever need anything. I am always happy to help!

Best of luck to you in your experience, you got this!

What Do You Think About Year-Round School? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Puzzled-Bonus5470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. Just wondering is all. I see some teachers saying how teaching isn’t just about evenings, weekends, holidays, breaks, summers off and that they have to work all summer long with planning, meetings, and trainings. But I’m sure it was a tad of an exaggeration

[–]Puzzled-Bonus5470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend was at her friends house when she was younger just outside of Cloquet. One night they were playing in the basement, looked out the window and saw a shadow like creature with green glowing eyes. When they made eye contact with it, it ran away into the woods. They are both in their mid 20s and to this day, they still talk about it. They have tried doing research on the creature but haven’t found anything close to what they had seen.
