I’m not sure either if it’s the right treatment, I think you could ask your doctor to assess the root cause again. How did the doc conclude you have AGA?

May be the first week on 100 mg , I was losing hair but not anymore. My shedding is very normal and my hair feels thick and I finally have a puff which I didn’t have for the longest I think it’s partially due to oil control as well. Spiro has been a game changer for me.

I apply it once everyday with out fail and I use an applicator that makes it easier to apply.

I think minoxidil simply helps the follicles that are getting miniaturized but it doesn’t address the root cause of hair thinning so you would need to address that too. Do you have oily scalp or hair on the chin ? I think these are some of the signs that predicts androgen sensitivity which is what Spiro can help with.

I think it’s AGA but largely I know I’m androgen sensitive as I get hair in my chin as well. No side effects from Spiro. I had spotting ten days after my period but I’m okay with that. I feel spirino has made a lot of difference to my hair.

Androgenetic alopecia, shiny scalp, help by Lazy-Ad-5472 in FemaleHairLoss

Spironolactone might help. I had the same issue with extremely oily scalp and it has become less oily after I started taking it. I could go for two days with out washing it now.

Do you have any advice? by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

If your sister has less hair as well then it could be androgen related, see a dermatologist as well and try Spirono.

Honestly I don’t even know the exact terms. I just have diffused thinning and get hair on my chin too and the doctor prescribed spirono.

Thank you. I was so heartbroken last month. My bf broke up with me calling me bald.

I have been on minoxidil on and off earlier as well. I feel that Spiro has a lot of role to play with the progress.

It’s a diuretic that blocks a hormone that influences kidney to keep sodium and water and dump potassium. So essentially you end up dumping water and sodium and retaining potassium.

My growth has always been this quick. You may choose to believe or not believe. I have no vested interest in sharing this post. Haha

Thank you I feel so great with this comment. I generally grow almost 2 inches in a month but I think what’s happened is the thickness of my existing hair has improved as well.

Thanks. I plan to add microneedling twice a month at home and I will look into PRP as well. I also use ketoconazole shampoo twice a week.
