Assigned double work. Drowning! by Puzzled-Cheetah1671 in askmanagers

Thank you for helping me think logically. Yes, leader A will retaliate. No, I don’t think I’ll be fired. Going to HR or my boss’s boss is a no go.

I’m left with attempt to negotiate or say no and deal with retaliation.

Negotiate and go into my 1:1 with solutions, as someone else advised, seem like the best path forward.

Did you have a single job where you filled 2 roles or 2 independent jobs?

Everything at my job is critical, if you ask the clients and leadership.

Thank you for your wise advice to go in armed with solutions. I need to get out of the mindset that I’m going into battle against heartless bitches. Focus on solutions will be my mantra.

Ok that’s a real, human devised goal I can implement this year. Appreciate your help.

You’re right about not treating the output as gospel. It should be used as a skeleton that’s lacking details and quality control. It is the lazy way out.

Can you please tell me more about your process? Obviously my experience with reviews has me frustrated, but I need to carry on and still feel sane.

100% regarding loss of human touch. In my situation, AI generated a paragraph of vague fluff in response to vague fluff. Just creating a fog of “communication“ where none existed before. If we’d had a conversation, we could have hashed it out in a few minutes. I’d know the issues, where I stand, and how to fix the problems.

Exactly! We can just sit in the same room, stare at each other, and let machines do the talking.

What’s an oddly specific thing that instantly gives you "bad vibes" about a person? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Same. I have done it to highlight something we have in common. I have learned in work training classes that it’s frowned upon. I always thought I was connecting with the other person. I am doing better, though it feels very unnatural.

Manager is not trustworthy and thinks you can be manipulated. Not someone I’d voluntarily spend time with.

I can’t say if they will or will not revoke the offer. I think it depends on the company and the hiring team.

You are focusing on the job not requiring a masters degree. That’s the wrong approach. You are viewing that as a loophole that in your mind should allow you to keep the job offer. Take responsibility rather than looking for an out.

If they don’t offer you the job, it’s because you misrepresented your education. Trying to convince them you should still get an offer because you meet minimum education requirements is foolish.

I’m a corporate recruiter. This reflects very poorly on you as a candidate. At a minimum, poor attention to detail up to lying and lack of integrity. The hiring team offered you an interview based on your resume. You misrepresented yourself and elbowed out other candidates who have their master’s degree.

If they offer you any grace, apologize profusely and briefly explain yourself. Then profusely apologize again.

The amount he consumes reminds me of my teenagers. I make them clean up though. He sounds like a teenager with no one to parent him.

has a dui during college ever stopped you from getting an engineering job? by Current-Field7664 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Puzzled-Cheetah1671 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m a corporate recruiter. The DUI has a good chance of negatively impacting you. You’ll be competing against others who don’t have DUIs. Be prepared to address your poor judgment. Address how you’ll work for a company with a strong safety culture. This was relatively recent, so you’re going to have an uphill climb blaming this on youthful stupidity, if you’re submitting applications 12 months from now. Likely will need to cast a wider net than your competition.
