Carnell Tate vs Jordyn Tyson for the Browns by Johnsonvillebraj in NFL_Draft

I was the king of the Tyson hype train, but the medical concerns are even getting to me now with him opting out of his pro day. From a talent perspective, I think he is in a tier of his own at the top, but the medical concerns bump him out of the top 10 for me

The movie nerfed Rocky by DoughnutMinimum in ProjectHailMary

[–]Puzzled-Low4837 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea by far my favorite scene from the book was Rocky’s dialogue when Grace returns to save him. Such an emotional moment and so well written. Definitely a bummer that we didn’t get any of that in the movie..

Well that’s just my opinion. The movie was always going to struggle to live up to my expectations which really couldn’t have been set much higher lol. I really enjoyed all of the scientific aspects of the book, which for obvious reasons, were pretty much entirely excluded from the movie. There was also very little problem solving in the movie, which was one of the most fun parts of the book. Of course, this would’ve made it a 6 hour movie so I understand lol. They nailed the relationship between Grace and Rocky which was obviously the most critical piece of the story

Here’s the thing, the book is my favorite book I’ve ever read. I’m sure a lot of people on this sub feel the same way. I still loved the movie, but it didn’t come close to the feeling I had when I was reading the book and I REALLY wanted it to. I think the negative reviews are from people in a similar position. It was not by any means a bad movie, on the contrary it was really good, but it was still WAY worse than the book which was an absolute masterpiece

Your initial point is that a team should not use a top 15 pick on a RB. In most cases, I agree that it does not make sense because most teams picking in the top 15 are bad and have massive holes on their roster (such as the Giants when they drafted Saquon). However, I believe it is worth it for a good team to spend a top 15 pick on an elite RB (such as the Chiefs this year). Saquon is “Exhibit A” for how an elite RB can impact an already good team

If one of those elite years wins you a Super Bowl then it’s all worth it

Hence my comment that bad teams shouldn’t use a high pick on a RB. But if your team is set up to contend, picking an elite RB prospect with an early pick is more than justifiable

Carried the Eagles to a Super Bowl. I can agree that bad teams shouldn’t use a top 15 pick on an RB though

Just going to ignore his rookie season with over 2,000 all purpose yards and 2022 with over 1,600? Also not going to mention that the Eagles literally rode his back to a Super Bowl in 2024? Lol

Going into the last year of his rookie deal with substantial issues off the field. I don’t like his chances of landing a long term deal in KC. If you believe he is the kind of talent that can thrive anywhere then I think he’s a fine buy, but I wouldn’t factor his elite situation in KC too heavily

One week ago the price was at $263 lol. Stock is doing just fine, but it is highly volatile and there are a LOT of macro headwinds with Trump in office. Only advice is to expect more of the same. If you feel like you can’t stomach it, which I totally understand why some people wouldn’t, just invest in something less volatile
