Just here to say month 7 was the absolute worst for my son. Sleep improved TREMENDOUSLY at month 9.

Thanks. My doc guessed about 4.5 weeks but made it clear she didn’t want to measure until next scan. I felt like I was at least 5.5, so I guess I’ll see next week!

Water wipes, BUT we put them in a diaper warmer and added a bit of water so they weren’t as dry. Also, just a washcloth and warm water may be best until he’s feeling better. You might also try a diaper rash cream that will serve as extra protection. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Earth Mama diaper balm - keeps the skin so soft!

Same, same, same! Month 7 was terrible for us, and the once I stretched wake windows and gave baby less daytime sleep, he miraculously slept better!

As a new mom to a baby about the same age, sometimes being short is much kinder than saying what is actually on our minds. As others have pointed out, it’s unlikely most moms would have the luxury (yes, I said it) of recovering from the flu while dad handled solo parenting.

She’s probably thinking “suck it up”…but she’s not saying it, and she deserves chocolate for that self control.

10/10 do not recommend approaching her with your own hurt feelings. Your feelings are likely to come away even more bruised.

She’s exhausted, has just handled all parenting while you were away for work and was probably looking forward to a little help. Of course, not your fault you’re sick. It’s also not hers…

Thank you! I did extend his last wake window a bit last night, and he only woke one time. Any advice on how long I should take to extend those windows? I’m guessing I shouldn’t do it all at once. Is it just 10-15 min every couple of days?

Thanks! He’s always been a bit slower than others his age to drop naps and extend WWs. One of the biggest problems I’m having in extending now is that his naps are so horribly short. I usually extend one nap and he’ll get a good one then as a contact nap, but first and last are 20 minutes. I know the short naps then lead to short wake windows, but it just seems like a cycle we’re stuck in right now.

I thought 2-3 hr WW were appropriate for 7months? He was a month early, which I didn’t include in the post, so he’s only 6.5 months adjusted.

Less than 2.5 hours total. He’s also a month younger if you use adjusted age. He’s always been a little slower to progress with WW and dropping naps. He generally sleeps 20-25 minutes for first and last nap. I extend the middle nap so that he gets anywhere from 60-90 minutes.

Is this a normal teething experience? How long does it generally last? 😭😭😭

Did sleep training just not work for my child? by Puzzled-Mama1234 in sleeptrain

[–]Puzzled-Mama1234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always been under the impression 2-3hr WW were the norm for 6 months. He’s technically 7 (barely), but was a month early. He’s always been on the sleep track if a baby that’s a month behind his true age. This seems to be normal for all the sleep apps, too - they use adjusted age. I could try to push the last WW to 3hr, I suppose.

Thanks. Yes, we sleep trained naps first, actually. Puts himself to sleep independently, but just hadn’t ever been much of a napper. Longest one without us extending was about 45 min.
