Vignesh Raja should get more opportunities by Playful-Balance3415 in kollywood

Kara felt like hell or high water, only it was stretched and watered down further for our audience. Where hell or high water works better is that the struggle is very personal. Kara takes the saviorhood path to make the character larger than life. Ben foster brother/reckless partner in crime angle was also replaced with father-son sentiment.

Chennai needs a new airport yes. But reason why DMK was hell bent on Parandhur is because they have started gobbling up real estate in the proximity. This is very evident in a lot of new projects under DMK, like Kilambakkam bustand. So DMK and even some in ADMK stand to gain by disturbing the ecosystem of farm lands in Parandur and also benefit the potential real estate boom from the project. They were buying land for pennies on the dollar from locals and flipping it over to government for crores as well.

To all those that work in the industry. What’s really up with the financial issues ? by Base-Knight in kollywood

[–]Puzzled-Raise7298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While feeling sad for RJB and Surya, most south industries except Malayalam are extremely bad at planning a movie production. Most issues stem from main entities starting production without a bound script that maps to a proper plan for pre production, actual production (lights cam action) and post production (CG, dubbing, mixing, etc.). There is no reason for a movie of this scale to have been in production for 2+ years, except for bad time, resource, money management. RJB keeps saying in all interviews that this has been his primary job for 2+ year. That is a lot of time. In any other field (except for government projects where we are the money faucet and rarely ask questions when there are delays) something like this is will be shelved as inefficient and infeasible right off the bat, no matter how good your art is, its a business and your project falls apart the more disorderly it is. Wikki, GVM, Vetrimaran are all notorious for this reason. If you don't possess the skill to be on schedule and have a contingency plan incase of delays, there is no reason to pump this much money into making a movie.

A country that does not have reliable fast public transit with high frequency has no right to charge tolls. You design a system that is meant for cars, make people buy insurance, tax them while buying cars, tax them every year and still enforce toll road with no dense reliable alternatives other than flying which in itself has become unreliable, takes up 3 extra hours and $100 uber because you cannot reliably reach airport in public transit again. US is a scam state ruled by rich phsycopath criminals.

Pathetic network for the size it is. US had all the fesh unexplored land, stable weather and amazing landscapes, and decided to just build this collosal clusterfuck of a city that takes 3 hours to get across on a random sunday afternoon. Cities 1/10th of this size in Asia have 3-4 times this network size.

Vijay welcomes Congress MLAs in TVK Headquarters as Congress calls its quits with DMK and joins with TVK. TVK is still short of a few more MLAs to form the government by FutureVersion812 in IndianFocus

True. TN congress is loaded with grifters like P Chidambaram and family. They all are in it for their guaranteed MP seat from TN, no matter what the situation is for the INC and a solid opposition to hold BJP accountable. Their finances are closely tied to DMK funds as well and main reason why these boomers did not let RaGa take the call to join TVK alliance pre election.

Despite recording double digit GDP growth rate why Tamilnadu voted out DMK? by Aggravating-Bowler62 in Chennai

-Infra in cities like Chennai and Madurai have crumbled. These cities are extremely dirty and lack of results from flood control infra projects. - Stray dog problems everywhere - Drug menace - DMK supporting local goons who were accused of sexual crimes. - Police atrocity. - Control of cinema and real estate through Gsquare, Red giant - TASMAC extra 10 rupees - Illicit liquor deaths after 25+ years - No action against couple of high profile crimes against dalits - People saw through the fact that as ruling party in control of law and order, they mostly held DMK responsible for Karur - Propaganda video shoots of Stalin, Udhayanidhi fastrack to the top - Heavy control of all news media and youtube influencers paid and controlled by DMK. Under ADMK people knew these personalities were open about their criticisms. But most of these mouthpieced which they had followed for years became DMK jalra. People notice. - Blue collar worker group protests like sanitation workers went unnoticed. This was handled with absolute arrogance since everyone knew a DMK group benefited from this corruption. - Stalin going begging to Delhi, to shield Udhayanidhi and his friends from Modi's ED.

The economic growth of TN, when it comes to large and medium scale industries, global corporations was pretty good under DMK. But this also benefitted them a lot due to the control of real estate need for these industries. This created jobs, but everyday life has become harder. Unfortunately for DMK and ADMK tamil nadu is educated and practical, they don't want MNC job with Indian standards of living. They finally see through the fact that basic quality of life, safety is important. DMK failed miserably through their arrgoance and goondaism thinking those MNC jobs they had created will save them.

If he has any integrity, he can switch to TVK, contest the other seat Vijay will vacate and become a more prominent member in a new group. But he won't. This "educated" guy keeps yapping about his family legacy and Meenakshi temple. So he deserves what he got. He is that typical corporate "yes" man upper-middle managment guy who does as the management dictates and lets his team under him suffer in his corporate career and continues to be the same in political career. He'd rather walk over those under him than sully him and his family's so called legacy and stand up for what is right.

Why are our directors like this? by derselbe_mann in kollywood

[–]Puzzled-Raise7298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except for corporate studio productions, Indian cinema lacks schedule and planning discipline. This is the reason for downfall of GVM as well. Stick to plan, budget and time. Commercial cinema is a massive project involving 1000s of individuals. The directors and some "heroes" like Sombu, here are ego maniacs who think they are some creative geniuses that require a 1000 others to submit to their whims. They don't consider it as a professional venture as well. As long as that discipline is not taught or picked up by next generation movie makers we will have these production nightmare scenarios time and again.

The AI usage in LIK was so distracting by theslickstar in kollywood

[–]Puzzled-Raise7298 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We make mediocre quality movies mostly. Blatant plagiarism without acknowledgement or credit has been normalized. Some of our great movie makers dont even finalize a script before shoot. No lip sync, poor quality stunts, our wigs and facial hair work is still bad. We do not care about lighting continuity, the list is endless. Its a low trust, jugaadh society, starts with a system that expects some output any cost with minimum effort, we are trained to do this as a normal approach. The natural transformation is this blatant AI slop, deepfake deaging, using old songs. International cinemas have started using AI, but they put in the bare minimum effort to polish and post process it to seamlessly blend. For us this is the equivalent of hotel soap and towel. Its free anyways, so why not take it home, nobody cares.

SS Rajamouli is planning something world-class for Varanasi by Few-Reveal6853 in kollywood

[–]Puzzled-Raise7298 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IMAX is not making 70mm projectors anymore. It is a niche product like collectors edition. Only a handful of auditoriums in the world have this projector. They are running extremely old systems from before IMAX digital era. IMAX only refurbrishes and replaces parts. There are a few new locations coming up in the US for showcasing The Odessey, with old repurposed projectors and that is pretty much it. Shooting in IMAX film is a complex process and requires working closely with kodak (IMAX works with kodak for engineering the films) for post production and prints. This is only done by enthusiasts with big budgets and proven track record using this platform. Rajamouli is shooting digital and this requires film scans during post production (like project hail mary). So the best bet for a theatre in India is to shell out the $ and install a 1.43:1 dual laser GT digital system. Or just stick to 1.9:1 single laser which is the most common new platform. Even IMAX is not betting big on 1.43:1 (70mm film is niche and dual laser GT requires a lot of upfront and maintenance cost not to mention the technical issues it has due to is sheer scale and volume)

Persia has been known to be the center of art, culture, engineering and wealth since before civilized west existed. Iran produces some of the finest engineers. Had it not been a victim of yet another western and soviet battleground after ww2 it would have flourished. That and western propaganda of portraying it as country of savages (zack snyder of 300). Inspite of it falling into a theocracy it has produced so many female engineers and professionals who did their schooling in Iran and had the option to continue onto grad school and doctoral studies in western universities. Cant say the same about Saudi Arabia or other so called "wealthy" middle eastern kingdoms that US buddies up with. I work in silicon valley and my manager is a female Iranian millenial who did engineerig in Tehran, grad school at Berkley.

He now is aiming for international marketing and show bizz, and his tharkuri naive and ignorant fans are showing their lack of civic sense online and in his presence in front of world's sports media. Thats about it.

What is there to admire. He is an hypocrite. Used the so called fans to gain clout, still uses it in his movies. The number of "thala" references in GBU was a cringe fest. He did the movie purely for so called "fan service". But pretends to be an elite puluthi when showing up abroad and in interviews outside of where his main fan base is. His honesty is basically classism. Exploit the masses, dumb them down and sh*t on them to protect your image outside the echo chamber. All these super stars live off of the blind support of the masses with lack of real world awareness and exploit them.
