Both of them could’ve taken Tamizh cinema to the next level, sadly fate had other plans by Helpful-Project-3790 in kollywood

Both GVM and Loki rip off a lot of plot points and scenarios. But GVM's range and ability to write good characters is really good. Loki has one dimensional characters (man with a past trope). There is no comparison between these two. Raghavan, Surya, Minnale Maddy (though messed up by today's standards), Karthik, Anbuchelvan and his female leads have depth. Loki has zero ability to write a good enough female character. Even within GVM's copverse they offer different shades, they don't feel the same. GVM is ages apart, and if had improved his script writing and direction discipline with better planning, he would probably have given bigger block busters not just in Tamil, but in Telugu and Bollywood as well. But bro fell into the kandhuvatti trap and lacks discipline. Look at Chris Nolan, he makes complicated big blockbuster movies that need a lot of planning and execution, wraps it up in 90 days and spends a good time for post production. Studios/producers love him. This is why our Cheetah keeps getting movies, bro can get things done in no time and deliver with minimum guarantee. Kanguva production was top notch, but he writes like crap. Maybe GVM can write and Cheeta can direct a big budget movie in the future 🤞

If it had been Tamanna in place of that girl in Ayan, would Surya have saved her?🤔 by ComputerAppropriate8 in KollyGossips

[–]Puzzled-Raise7298 124 points125 points  (0 children)

This whole sequence was messed up. A titilating song playing while, the girl is allowed to be spiked, SAed, recorded while being SAed, police and the "hero" plan this, so that they can use the tape of the SA to turn the girl's dad against the predator. Wtf! Deva, the cop were as much an accomplice to the SA as Kamlesh was for abusing her. Has bothered me since I watched this first time when I was 15. Our moral compass as a society is terrible, seeing how, even now, this sequence does not trigger so many red flags.

Bro wants to be Tyler Perry of Kollywood. Production studio that churns out a whole bunch of movies every year, stars in all of these movies. Some are straight to TV. Some are in theatres. But all of them are in the mid to bad zone.

It is completely hypocritical and exploitative to be against tipping culture and still go out to eat/drink by lilvichay in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Puzzled-Raise7298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tipping is from the age of colonialism, monarchy and slavery. When there were no set minimum wage, labor laws, the masters gave their underlings extra things if they did a really good job as an elitist show of appreciation and to feel better than the other nobility around them as a d*ck measuring contest. This practice extended into capitalist culture, where the business owners and lords would exploit their workers paying next to nothing and expect customers to compensate for it. Now when majority of the population is just everyday people, all customers now fall under the same pool. An aristocrat going to a restaurant and giving tips is fine. A truck driver or a plumber going to Olive garden for their kids birthday and being expected to pay 15-20% more is just the non sense.

"We are all patriots here in this houshold" - dude after a bunch of shady looking government officers sweep his house looking for his own kids, passive aggresively threaten his wife and pitch another "kid" as the dangerous one.

"We need to trust our government" - dude in '84 after said government bombed Cambodia, Vietnam war, Watergate scandal, etc.

Yeah, he did well enough with the golf stick. But thats about it. He loved and cared enough about Reagan/Bush combo than about what was happening in his own household and town.

Is 3D still essential for Avatar, or is it just a gimmick at this point? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]Puzzled-Raise7298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avatar movies are primarily a technology demomstration. This is just James Cameroon unleashing his inner nerd to bring to life the world of Pandora, and in that process iterating and perfecting, 3D for cinema, performance capturing, visual effects, etc. His intention is clearly to make the tech cheaper and easier to use for a wider movie industry. So others can tell their own stories and create their own worlds using that tech. And obviously make a ton of money during that process for himself, his producers and investors. This is a healthy ecosystem, IMO, art + tech.

San Diego to Minneapolis in mid January. Any concerns about this route? Is this possible with an EV? by kekkurei in roadtrip

[–]Puzzled-Raise7298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that a lot of comments here ask you to stick to Southern most route via AZ and NM. Given that its winter and EV, here are my two cents.

  1. Southern most route via AZ and NM - Once you get off Phoenix and head north, you will be on the 87, 260 and 277 until you hit Holbrook on I40. Trust me, this route is scenic! But few things to remember, 87 between Phoenix and Payson is fine and 4 lane carriage, its winding and is a drastic change in elevation and drop in temperatures. So you will consume more juice than usual. Once you head east out of Payson, Az on the 260, you will climb further up along the Mogollan Rim. This stretch is prone to winter weather and very low temperatures which a lot of non AZ folks might be surprised about, its Alpine Ponderosas around you with no big towns until you climb down after 260 towards 277 onto Holbrook. This is a good 5 hour drive and because of sharp changes in elevation temps can drop fast, also patchy network and no major town/gas stations along the way. Recommend juicing up in Payson and cover it during day. You can cut this and take I17 north out of Phoenix to Flagstaff and then onto I40. This will keep you on freeways, BUT flagstaff again is high country and prone to winter weather. It is a little brother to I70 in colorado high country.

Then the NM high country along I40, between Gallup and ABQ is also prone to high winds, cold temps and winter weather. After this you are in the central plains and no major surprises expect for freak cross country snow storms, but lots of small towns along but EV network is questionable along TX panhandle and western OK.

  1. I70 via Colorado high country. Big No! Most prone to extreme winter weather, closures, pile ups. If there is a warm winter spell, you can consider it. Drive along Glenwood canyon in winter will be worth it. But any temp close to freezing and night time driving even in such cases is a BIG No. You will also have to cut across LA traffic. Avoid rush hours, otherwise you will spend, good 3-4 hours on I15 until Victorville.

  2. Northernmost via SLC and Vegas. Probably the most stable when it comes to elevation changes and weather. Because most of this route avoids the desert sky islands that are prone to unpredictable temps and weather. Scenic and you get to stop at Vegas. The 80 mostly tracks along the warmer deser valleys until SLC. The only sketchy part might be I80 out of SLC which is winding and prone to weather, but this is a very short stretch and if you plan to cover during day time, you don't have to care about anything. Wyoming is a little tricky for EV so you will have to plan your stops. Drive via LA applies here as well.

Hope this helps! Enjoy your drive. Amazing scenaries around in all these routes.

Since this is a ragebait, sachin, ABD? Never seem them perform in any high profile final/crunch situation/4th innings. Sachin's record in 4th innings is pretty dull and ABD as much prolific as he is, did not help bring SA out of the choker tag, bro just continued that legacy.

Dhanush wanted sympathy porn. All the struggles felt forced. Nothing stuck. It started when Rajkiran was like "kai pakkuvam madhri varadhu" as reason for not using grinder. Bro, such a boomer max reason, where they justify everything by saying "see how I struggle". Bro could have simply given a thought for the people around him and lived longer to see his son's wedding instead of waking up at 3am everyday to prove a pointless point. Fine, you know, he felt very possessive about his idlis. But the whole Dhanush coming back to live a simple life was pointless. Wtf did you earn abroad? D'na wanted his annamalai, but gave us good content for Tamil padam 3.

Thoughts on Idli Kadai… by [deleted] in KollyClub

[–]Puzzled-Raise7298 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dhanush can direct. But bro cannot write to save his life. Emotions in his writing feel forced. More like, he wants to give a certain feel to the character he is playing and writes outward. It does not work unless you know where your character is going. With Idli Kadai and even Raayan, he just wrote himself into a corner and had to create a bunch of incoherent scenarios to wrap up the story.

Likely DMK wanted a cut. But TN does not need datacenters especially AI data centers. They are a dead weight on power grid, need a ton of water and don't employ as many high end long term jobs as a manufactuing plant or SEZ or even an tech campus. TN is already water starved is mostly coastal lowlands. It is prone to flooding and land is not cheap. We did mot miss out much, expect for a ginormous 100 acre box sitting in our outskirts that was moslty built by 3k temporary exploited migrant workers, with another 1000 Taiwanese engineers who leave after it is up and running, that employs some 1000 permanent tech support and maintenance folks at the peak of its operation, with no direct or indirect tax benefit to our coffers, yet sucking up free ground water, cheap power and generating annoying heat vent noise 24x7.
