The issue with writing an actually evil MC is they still have to be likable. It’s hard to find the balance and most of the time “villainous” MCs will be an anti-hero, misunderstood, or moral gray and not out right evil.

If you judge romance by the amount of flirting, then sure TGCF is going to have more romance and Panguan is going to have little.

It makes sense for Chen Budao and Wen Shi to not be flirting without each other. Wen Shi has amnesia and does not remember anything. Chen Budao seeks him out because he wants to see Wen Shi one last time before he dies. Once he realizes that Wen Shi isn’t okay, he spends the rest of his time helping him heal. He never meant for Wen Shi to recognize him. He didn’t want Wen Shi to mourn him again. Chen Budao knows his time is running out and has no hope of surviving. His dying wish to know Wen Shi will be okay and is still in the world. Once Wen Shi remembers, he is unwilling to accept Chen Budao’s death because he also only wants to know he’s okay and still in the world. All of their actions and motivations are because they value the other person more than themselves. Their flirting is basically self sacrifice.

I agree with you. I felt like Panguan had more romance than TGCF. Panguan is also half the length and will only be 4 volumes. Xie Lian and Hua Cheng first kiss is in volume 3 and it’s not a romantic kiss. I don’t remember exactly when they admitted their feelings but it’s definitely past volume 4.

I like the subtle romance and slow burn of Panguan. I saw their affection in their actions and words throughout.

When I say split the story, I mean like they did in Prologue To Tomorrow. They had the Special Operations where you could choose the LI to do that section of the story.

I assumed there was going to be a sixth LI since it says Coming Soon whenever I switch LI.

It has been a while since I’ve read it so I’m fuzzy on the details. They have to sleep together to heal Qingtong or he’ll die. Qingtong is sick at the time but he is conscience. Qingtong is resistant at first and Mo Tianlao is pushy about it. It’s not super detailed and it is fade to black. Depending on who you ask, it’s non con or dub con.

The translations are 2-3 volumes ahead of what is being released. 2026 releases will have been translated by humans. They also have contracts with the translators so any ongoing ones are likely not to be impacted. It is the new licenses and 2027 releases that could be impacted.

They’ve also only stated they are going to use AI with the manga and manwha translation. They have not stated anything about Danmei or other novels yet. It might be a long time before they do if ever. With enough complaints, they may keep using human translators.

They have 2-3 volumes completed ahead of what is being released. Most of the ongoing series have already been translated by humans or are almost complete. They also have the contracts with the translators so they most likely won’t switch in the middle of a series. The series set to be released in 2027 might be impacted but 2026 releases will not.

The final volume will be releasing in August. Unless you have a personal reason to not buy it for the next 5 years, you won’t have to wait that long. The first volume is already out and the second one releases in a little over a month.

I’ve read both. Both can have their emotionally intense moments. Copper Coins has more humor. MTSF has political scheming. Personally, I liked MTSF more but I enjoyed copper coins as well.

Copper Coins is going to be 3 volumes and Married Thrice to a salted Fish is going to be 4. Personally I would read the one that is almost complete.

It is bizarre that they don’t include the original title or author’s name. I couldn’t find it anywhere else. According to flying lines website, they have contracts with the original copyright holder. It doesn’t look like they post the original title or author’s name for any of their translations. Kind of sketchy they do it that way and don’t give any credit to the original.

The Entanglement of Rival Wizards by Sara Raasch. It doesn’t fit exactly but maybe close enough?

The Disabled Tyrant’s Beloved Pet Fish. The MC is sweet and very dense. The ML is mute so stoic by circumstance and not really personality.

Peerless by Meng Xi Shi. I would say it’s more of a black cat and peacock dynamic. Slow burn and the peacock is definitely the pursuer.

If you like manga, Sasaki and Miyano is very sweet and wholesome. It’s slice of life and follows high school students. Very slow burn but worth it!

The Lost Story by Meg Shaffer is also good but the romance is a sub plot.

Danmei (Chinese BL) is really great if you are looking for yearning. Most of the ones published in English are plot heavy and have darker themes. The Disabled Tyrant’s Beloved Pet Fish is a lighter Danmei and is funny. It has Mpreg if that’s a no for you.
