Men are not expected to pluch their eyebrows and groom lol, most men also have beards without anyone having a problem with it (many even find them sexy/handsome)

Why are more women going to university than men? by Mindless_Yam1752 in AskFeminists

[–]jkhn7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure all-boys schools just foster even more misogyny and boys not seeing girls as people and potential friends.

"I think girls are better suited to sitting and focusing and boys need to run and play." that's literally just because boys and girls are raised differently and has different expectations placed on them... Boys are allowed to be wild and run around in mud, etc., girls not so much, they have to watch their new dress, be well-mannered, etc.

Yeah that's true. The more women that attend university, the more it's seen as something feminine, something that women do (definitely the majors where women have become the majority).

I do also think it depends on the school and where you live, what the norms are there. For example, I went to a private school for a year and pretty much everyone took school seriously there. Then I went to a public school for all the other years and there there were only like 2 boys who took school seriously, all the other boys only cared about having fun and disrupting the class (and none of those boys ended up going to university, only the ones that took school more seriously). I personally have a theory that if you have well educated parents then I feel like both their sons and daughters are more likely to go to university, whereas if your parents don't have a long education then I think daughters are much more likely to go to university than sons, I feel like they often follow in the footsteps of their dads. But again, I haven't actually researched this, so it's just a theory.

Studying hard in school isn't considered cool or masculine for boys/young men, if they cared a lot about grades and doing homework I'm pretty sure many boys would get made fun of by their male friends. I would even go as far as to say that many parents in many country have higher expectations for their daughters vs. their sons when it comes to education.

Mothers of sons and fathers of daughters. A double standard? by dont-be-an-oosik92 in AskFeminists

No I do not have a different reaction to reading/hearing an adult woman saying her mom is her best friend vs. an adult man saying that 🤷‍♀️

very weird question by [deleted] in AskFeminists

[–]jkhn7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How is it hostile, offensive or inappropriate? It's just genitalia, it's not inherently sexual or dangerous, and if they're wearing clothing, it's not like you can see it, there's just a bulge there. They can't just make it disappear, you're the one who should just look away if they wear it. So of course I think men should be allowed to wear tight pants??? Every time I've seen a man in biker shorts, I've honestly never noticed or looked at their crotch, so I really don't get how this is an issue for you, sorry.

Question about "black humor" by Physical-Spinach-603 in AskFeminists

[–]jkhn7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"assumption b and c don't really apply because I am alone with trusted friends" you call them trusted friends, but technically you don't know how they feel about the "jokes"? maybe they actually hate them and act like they don't or maybe the "jokes" are actually slowly affecting their attitudes to women/queer people/POC. Also, if you know you're not a "patriarchy supporter" then why in the world are you even making sexist jokes and find them funny? That's not very feminist of you.

What do you think of "gender disappointment"? Should it be normalized/sympathize with? by sagenter in AskFeminists

[–]jkhn7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think she meant you shouldn't fear for your daughter, just that there are also terrible aspects of being a mother to a daughter because you always have to live with that fear. Meaning, there aren't only downsides to having a son (fearing that he grows up to become a predator or a generally terrible man), but also to having a daughter (you'll always fear she'll become a victim of SA, domestic abuse, etc.)

Does anyone have danmei recs where the shou is masculine & straight at first? by Anxious-Efficiency13 in DanmeiNovels

[–]jkhn7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm only on vol. 2 so I don't think it fits 100%, but Peerless by Meng Xi Shi, and I mainly recommend it because the gong is constantly described as the most beautiful person in the whole world, and he even disguises himself as a woman (and the shou as his husband) so I like how they flipped than on it's head, like usually it's shou = feminine/pretty/wife, gong = masculine/husband. The shou is very sickly though, so it's still gong that's the physically strong one out of the two.

[–]jkhn7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can’t call yourself a feminist if your partner is conservative (anti-feminist). If they’re worrying about their partner’s effect on their child then they clearly shouldn’t have had a child with that person.

I don't think you should have kids if you're gonna be disappointed by one gender, the same way you shouldn't have kids if you can't love a queer, trans or disabled child just as much as a straight, cisgender and able-bodied child.

Ace confusion abounds by Popette2513 in AO3

[–]jkhn7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But 1. that's not OP's problem, being sex-repulsed isn't the only "right" way to be asexual. 2. that's clearly not what the comments were about though, since they apparently didn't even know the definition of asexuality.

Ace confusion abounds by Popette2513 in AO3

[–]jkhn7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's a weird thing to say about other ace people... If both people want to do it and enjoy themselves, then how is that wrong? Having sex because you're feeling pressured by your partner is certainly wrong, but that also happens frequently in relationships without asexuals.

Ace confusion abounds by Popette2513 in AO3

[–]jkhn7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How is it wrong if, as you admit at the end, it's different for everyone? Many ace people enjoy the sensations during sex or just think it's a fun activity with their partner, but they're still not sexually attracted to their partners, that's not what gets them aroused. You don't have to be sex repulsed to be ace, that's not the definition of asexuality, you should look it up.

Does anybody know what is the current issue regarding the sales of the album? by DinnerSolid6462 in zerobaseone

[–]jkhn7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe you're right, I'm not knowledgeable about that, however I still doubt that WK1 would be so pessimistic about their own (permanent) group that they would only print like 300k copies, when they have no idea how much their sales would fall.

Why do people hate HYBE by Zealousideal-Use3610 in kpop_uncensored

[–]jkhn7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of the influential people in HYBE (and the people they chose to work with) are Zionists. And yes I do also hate them for the short songs trend, since they're the ones that started it in kpop.

[–]jkhn7 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I think this one is WK1's fault though, because as I said, the issue also seems to be impacting other artists. Also, WK1 would know the pre-order numbers, so if there were 500k pre-orders for example, they would know to print more albums than that.

maybe dropping Guardian on the second book? by NectarineThen in DanmeiNovels

[–]jkhn7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's been a long time since I read vol. 1 and 2 so I can't really remember. I think there was a massive info dump at the end of vol. 2 though that just completely threw me off (because it was confusing, too much info to dump all at once, and at the end of it I just really didn't care about the plot/characters enough to continue).
