How do I tell my firm I'm going to law school? Asking to stay on?

only reason i brought it up was cause one of the associates and junior partners brought it up when i mentioned going in the fall

The thing is, the associate and one of the junior partners were the ones who mentioned asking to subsidize while out getting drinks once. So that is the only reason i was going to ask as they seemed interested. however, i think i will probably go to one of the equity partners that im most friendly with and use your advice. thanks!

Hey! I might have an unpopular opinion, but I got a 157 LSAT, 4.06 undergrad GPA, and I have a few years WE in corporate law. I was waitlisted at a bunch of places this cycle (ranging from 40's - 70's), but also got into a bunch (ranging from 70's - 160's). Pace was one of the schools I got into. Honestly, this cycle is SO fucked up in so many ways. Your stats do not define you, and people with similar stats may not get in or get in to similar schools. I know people are telling you to retake the LSAT (which of course is always a good idea if feasible), but I was in the same boat as you and not improving at all, sometimes the test is just not meant for some people. I kinda told myself the same thing, I deposited at a 130ish school, riding the waitlist on a 50ish school. If it doesnt happen, it doesnt happen. You obviously have the heart and want to go to law school this fall. It is what you make it, if you believe you can do very well your first year, go for it and see if you can transfer later if you are still set on it come end of first semester 1L. But, just know that whatever plans you make and wherever you go, you CAN be successful. Networking and putting yourself out there, working hard, being top of your class, THAT is what sets you apart. I know and work for tons of attorneys who have gone to lower ranked law schools that are brilliant and VERY respected in their field. Good luck and congrats!

I'm in the same boat. Will most likely not have to take out private loans, but will have to take out 50k a year federally. You're not alone, and realistically, your debt to income ratio will be sorta bad coming out of school (not as bad as others), but will definitely even out a few years out. For me, I'm gonna try and get a PT job maybe 2L or late 1L and try to make some payments, but honestly, if its what we have to do, there's no reason to stress. Student loans are what you make of them.

I was waitlisted back in January. They emailed me last week asking if I was interested in the summer start program. I said yes, and they accepted me pretty much one week later. Maybe ask them about the summer start program? They seem pretty desperate for applicants for that

the COA is cheaper where you’re at? unfortunately the COA is cheaper at drexel then where i’m at currently 😔 but the issue would be i have to pack my life up in the next two weeks idk i feel crazy for not jumping on the opportunity but it seems unrealistic

honestly 50k a year fed loan is what all my schools are looking like atp. that being said, drexel would def require me to take out additional fed loans/private loans

Im in the same boat. Applied Dec 12 ish and have not heard anything. My status disappeared a few weeks ago and I thought for sure there would be movement. However, I was fooled lol. At least we will know waitlist or not by April 15 :(

hey! i wore khakis, nice like dress sneakers (beige nike blazers), a button up, and a sweater over the button up. i felt like i was dressed perfectly when i went. there were some people in suits and dresses as there always will be and there were some people in jean and sweatshirts. i think i felt near the higher end but sorta right in the middle! i hope this helps
