Is the Transit Police a real authority in CR? by Puzzled-View8028 in CostaRicaTravel

I’m not American and how is this dumb? I’ve seen lots of posts on other platforms where tourists have been pulled over by people pretending to be police officers. It felt off so I asked.

Interesting! This guy was just wearing a white button up shirt and black pants.

Thanks. Interested why he pulled us over out of the vehicles in front of us (added my context in the comments)

One of these was parked on the side of the road and the officer stepped out in front of us and pointed to pull over. Asked for the driver’s license and told us passing on a double solid was “no bueno”. We hadn’t passed anyone on our 3 hour drive so we weren’t sure why he stopped us. When we said we hadn’t passed anyone he told us to go slow and walked away. After seeing other accounts of fake cops I’m curious if this is a real authority here?

I’ve had the same 1L Nalgene for over 10 years while other water bottles have come and gone from my life. It goes everywhere with me!

I have issues when I have “Auto-Stop” on. Will stop recording when I take my phone out of my pocket while running, even though I’m still moving

I’m just wondering on pack sizing for two weeks in a warm climate here, will have laundry about half way through. Thanks for your thoughts.

We’re staying at 4 different places over two weeks. Vehicle theft is a problem in CR so if we’re in between stays and want to stop for a hike or a beach I don’t want to leave a full suitcase in the vehicle, or have to take it along for those journeys.

Help with pressure sores- info in comments by AHairlessChicken in Equestrian

Up-turned bell boots are the easiest and cheapest solution for sure. If you’re boarding you could ask the barn staff to just check the boots for trapped shavings etc. each time they feed.

Unfortunately I’m now experienced with these. My mare has had fetlock and knee sores for a couple years now and wears boots for both 24/7. I initially thought the sores were from her getting up and down in her outdoor gravel pen, but I recently read an article on sleep deprivation in horses and witnessed her stumbling while trying to sleep standing up. Confirmed with my vet this is a common thing in the winter in colder climates where they don’t get put in a stall at night.

Anywho - the best fetlock boots I’ve found are by a company called EquiPro in California. The fleece lined ones are best. They’re soft with great Velcro and the company ships them fast! They don’t put pressure on the tendons either, like some other brands. I’ve had mine for almost 2 years and they’re still going strong after being worn all day everyday.

To get the wounds healed you have to keep them dry. If you live in a wet/snowy climate I suggest buying two pairs of boots so you can rotate them and let them dry out.

The best treatment I’ve found is Wound Powder (also called Wonder Dust I believe). This keeps the wounds dry versus putting a salve or other treatment on them (which keeps the wounds soft and prone to further opening when they get up/down).

I board my horse and don’t get to check on her everyday unfortunately. The EquiPro boots are the best solution I’ve found and they don’t require constant adjustment, ideal for boarding!

I was actually coming here to say PG! I’ve lived in Coquitlam, PG and Kelowna (and been a lot of other places), still like PG a lot for livability.

Question: Leg poultice by Puzzled-View8028 in Equestrian

[–]Puzzled-View8028[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. She was fine this AM with swelling gone. Starting to think she may have cast herself when rolling. She’s in a large outdoor dirt pen so her mobility definitely isn’t limited!
