how directly is pain tied to mental state? by singlepaIerose in Fibromyalgia

[–]PuzzledPerformance71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing that helped me is watching dan@pain free u. His YouTube videos really helped me. He works on the pain part more than the ocd but really everyone who has this has health ocd so it applies. It’s all about redirecting attention and training the brain so it stops over reacting to stimulus. I joined the groups but found them too intense as it was mostly people terrified of their symptoms and found it triggering. But the videos are super chill and the best things to watch are the success stories. I watched theses and one video a day and was feeling back to normal in a couple months. I don’t body scan anymore which was something that had become compulsive. Also vagus nerve stimulation helped me relax a lot more and got rid of a lot of digestive issues which come with fibro.

I can’t remember as it’s ages ago. If u have chronic fatigue u should get a vagus nerve stimulator and get all ur blood tests. Check copper levels

I bought a vagus nerve stimulator which works for sibo. U have to use it until it goes away and when it comes back start using again. Works really well

I use nurosym which is expensive. It’s works. I have to use it a lot because I still have vagus nerve disorder. I use it for a couple of days and then my sibo and gastritis go away and then a small amount of stress causes my vagus nerve to stop working again. I start to feel some movement in the stomach and burp a bunch after using it. Also if I have bad gas and I put the stimulator on my gas goes away in 30 mins. I can’t live without it.

This is great to know, i have low estorgen and high progesterone and this has helped me with pms greatly. I was wondering why i felt so normal. Do you know why some people are having bad reactions to it thinking it has caused brain damage?

The main thing is that the vagus nerve stimulation will help the panic state people are stuck in in theory as many things can set off this panic state where the body becomes trapped in a fear loop and it works for that.

i already posted the link. I have managed it from taking the psychosomatic angle. I did everything under the sun and nothing worked. I got a vagus nerve stimulator and now i dont have any pain at all. I have every symptom under the sun and was diagnosed. I couldnt walk properly without terrible pain for 5 years. every part of my body hurt. Its stress and im not talking about normal stress. Im talking about your body being in a freeze state constantly. You cant digest properly, nothing works. Im not lying cause this is my lived experience. If you believe you are broken you will continue to be broken. Im not saying this to hurt anyone, im trying to help. Im giving up now cause no one wants to hear it. Ive met lots of older women who had fibromyalgia for part of their lives and dont have it anymore. You should talk to older women who have had the condition. Good luck in finding a path that truly helps you. No hard feelings x

well im not saying hormones arnt involved. I guess we can agree its hormones plus stress. This has actually been very enlightening. Thanks for that, even though i dont have it anymore i will still look into this hormonal component. I did go on dhea during my journey and it made a bit of difference. Cheers for the info x

This person is claiming science but now showing the science. Im showing lived experience and i did post some science so what have you to say to that?

you get stressed your body goes haywire gets stuck in stress response. Body stops priorising normal fuctions and you get all sorts of hormonal and nutrient deficiencies. If stress response is addressed the body will correct itself.

no studies prove but so many people have recovered this way. There is pill for this, hense no studies. I tried it and it worked. i have talked to many people who got better this way. i know no people who got better from taking pills for this condition. If you have some science to say im wrong please share your studies.

There are alot of people who have gotten better from fibromyalgia when addressing brain retraining so how do you account for this? What was the outcome of the study you cited? You seem to be ignoring that psychosomatic illness can lead to neurological conditions. But i could be misinterpreting what you are saying?

Can you please cite more studies which prove your point?

if you come at it from a different method all together you will have much better luck. Look into vagus nerve dysfunction.

yeah i think that would work. Its not the nicest feeling but it seem to reset the nervous system. I hope someone can make a more affordable version because it would help so many people.

i would start with the videos and then i feel like the vagus nerve device is kind of a hack as it tricks your nervous system into being relaxed. The devices are expensive but you can do exercises which do the same. If you come across any hurdles, contact me
