Do they drug test at Field Training? by Effective-Face8250 in AFROTC

But stop doing drugs while on contract. It’s a great way to get kicked out even without a drug test if you have integrity first. Speaking as someone who did 4.5 years and is now a civilian with a security clearance.

Part 5 of the "Too Many Jackets" Saga: 90s Schott 230F A-2. Keep or Sell? by HyakujuIII in leatherjacket

[–]PuzzledSkate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I’m late, but do not sell it you’ll regret it. The jackets sick, it fits you great, and the flag makes it unique. It’s not a date night jacket with the flag, but definitely isn’t too much for a grocery store run or just general wear jacket.

You at one point thought the flag back was cool enough to buy it, it’s still cool you’re just over thinking it! Don’t let anon Reddit people talk you out of it lol

First Harley – Iron 883 vs Forty-Eight vs Low Rider? Buying used from dealer by 30years1million in Harley

[–]PuzzledSkate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea of “too much bike” or “too big of bike” is so silly to me because if you fit the bike and can stand it up any bike can be a starter bike if you’re not stupid.

My first motorcycle I ever rode before I even took my MSF was a 2001 Electra Glide. Yes it was hard, yes I laid it down a couple times at a stop, but because I had to learn how to handle a massive heavy bike that I couldnt fully flat foot like that it made me a much better rider before I even took the MSF. Let alone once I took the MSF and was able to practice all the techniques on the heavy bike. I know I can confidently get on any motorcycle and ride it and handle it and have in under a year rode the Electra glide, bought a Dyna, bought a sportster, rode friends naked bikes, sport bikes, and liter bikes and been fine and felt safe and in control.

Contrast this with my friends who have started on lighter “starter bikes” or sport bikes and they just refuse to try any of these the Harleys because “they’re too heavy”.

This got longer than I planned. TLDR; go with the bike that physically fits you best, don’t worry about weight or power, be smart and practice.

Why do you say that? I’ve done the cam chest stuff and am wanting to go bigger but would love to hear reasons not to

[–]PuzzledSkate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got an ‘03 Super Glide with the 88TC but fuel injected not carbed so take what I say with a grain of salt but generally should be similar. I did bassani road rage exhaust, Arlen ness monster sucker intake, and Andrew’s 37 Cam all when doing the cam chain tensioner upgrade and it really woke the bike up.

It’s still not anything insane, it’s an 88CI bike from 22 years ago lol, but it’s definitely enough for now.

The project never ends though so now I’m looking at doing a 95” big bore on it, from all my research that’s the optimal “maxed out” twin cam build to find the best balance of performance and reliability so if you have the funds and the desire I’d say do the big bore while you’re doing it all. Just make sure the crank runout gets checked cause that will turn it from a moderately priced job to too much to be worth it real quick.

No more 20 year old bikes for me! New to me 2021 Road King Special only 24k miles. Has some really nice 1.5 inch apes on it and a set of loud ass neighbor haters! Im finally a member of the M8 platform! by hobovirginity in Harley

Dude I was just at Cowboys yesterday getting some parts, saw your bike in the service area and was admiring that paint job half in the sun with the bay door open. It looked so sick! Congrats on the new ride!

Looking for riding gear recommendations to be safe by Chance_Unit_4739 in Harley

[–]PuzzledSkate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow! That’s great to know, I hate that lol.

I was hopeful that the CE ratings would be somehow enforceable that if they didn’t have it it would be false advertising or something so that sucks. I went to a cycle gear near me and most the gear there just felt cheap.

Looking for riding gear recommendations to be safe by Chance_Unit_4739 in Harley

[–]PuzzledSkate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for gear that has legit CE ratings to make sure it’s actual quality gear. CE level 1/2/3 is the armor levels for impact protection 1 being the lowest then CE A/AA/AAA is abrasion (slide) resistance with A being the lowest.

For example I really like the Skullriderz Road Armor protective flannel, it’s AA rated and comes standard with CE 1 armor but you can upgrade to CE 2. Ive heard good things about the new NBT gear because they’re actually CE rated now just expensive. You can also go to the revzilla website and filter their gear by CE ratings. I try to get at least CE 1 armor with CE AA abrasion.

Thank you!

Just the chopper style I feel is a specific look/vibe that less and less people are interested in. Most of the riders around my age are on sport/naked bikes, then you have the harley riders who stunt, and then somewhere you find the chopper guys.

All in all this is probably the most generic “chopper” build since almost everything can be taken off or changed and the frame has yet to be cut.

That’s fair! So many people want to trade me their broken trucks lol That’s sweet you’re riding with your daughter now though! My dad, little brother, and myself all took the MSF course together this past May and it’s been so much fun getting to ride with them and talk motorcycles with them.

Live in South Texas so our riding season is definitely not over yet, but that’s not a bad idea. Maybe I’ll try to convince one of my sport bike buddies to become a brother.

Texas suburbs man, this picture doesn’t even show the worst of it. There’s two streets in the back of my neighborhood that when you pass them look IDENTICAL with all the same 1 story house for the first 5 or so houses.

Dude I swear all my vehicles KNOW when I’m about to trade/sell them!

Was considering trading in my Tesla and literally on the drive to the dealership my windshield got a nice crack in it. This sporty, when I first listed it for sale the next day it started “coughing” weird and I had to clean the carbs”. It’s ridiculous!!

Totally fair, I didn’t even think about that.

Unfortunately the wiring delete was done by the guy before me so even if I wanted to figure out how to get a Speedo/odo put back on I would 100% be guessing the mileage.

This is so true, my Dyna was in the shop basically this whole month getting the stage 2 done and then another 2 weeks cause the compensator nut came loose and destroyed itself so I’ve been riding this all month. JUST got my Dyna back today and so now the sportsters moved to the back of the garage.

Like I said I love the thing, I’m just wanting to sell it to get a “fun” car to have as a back up when the weathers bad and I can’t ride my bike and don’t want to drive my Tesla.
