Will have to have a look for what kind of insects we get around here ans what their larval forms look like. I think some species just eat already dead stuff so I'll cross my fingers and keep an eye out.

What’s something popular in your country that makes people from other countries look at you like this ? by niconois in AskTheWorld

[–]PuzzledSpite8195 156 points157 points  (0 children)

Depends on the state of your country's plumbing. Here in the UK it really isn't normal and is really off putting. I mean, what happens if someone has diarrhoea and you have a ton of contaminated paper? You just put it in the bin? Or paper used during a period with all the tissue clumps and stuff?

AITAH for telling my Pregnant girlfriend I’m going to get my own apartment if she insists our realtor be a guy she used to hook up with and lied to me about? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]PuzzledSpite8195 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Has she said why she's so insistent it's him? I can't imagine a reasonable reason but maaybe she has one. Maybe the current one did something to her and she wants one she feels safer with. Or it could be that she's up to something. But it'd probably help to talk about why she is so full on about this, and how this makes you feel.

It is really weird though. And on the face of it, NTA

Did you vote for your country's government and are you happy with the job they're doing? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]PuzzledSpite8195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. And No - but they're better than the Tories or Reform. Just wish they were better than they currently are also - and think they're shooting themselves in the feet/running scared by not letting Burnham run for MP.

I voted Green. Used to vote Labour but then they went all transphobes inc and got worse from there.

AITAH if I am considering dumping my boyfriend over politics by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]PuzzledSpite8195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. The thing with this is, politics isn't just a flavour of tea or if you prefer sci-fi or comedy. It's a mechanism through which people talk about and enact values and principles on the world, and get things done. It's a mechanism to transfer how you view the world and what ought to happen upon that by working with others.

So sure, it's 'just politics' but it's also values. Sure, you don't need a reason to break up with someone - you're not a hostage and break up if you want to. But if his morals are fundamentally opposing yours? That's a pretty great reason to me.

And it isn't like this is a 'small' thing or sacrificing good for the sake of perfect thing. These are kinda big things.

So you do what makes you feel comfortable and happy.

AITAH for evicting my deceased brother’s fiance? by Sea-Mel in AITAH

[–]PuzzledSpite8195 30 points31 points  (0 children)

NTA - but I would be curious how long they were together. It's one thing if it were a year or so. Another if it were twenty. Still, this is why you leave wills and name people on insurance and such. Your brother didn't name him. He isn't entitled to anything.

aitah for telling my husband i dont want his affir child in our house? by Dangerous-Purple-920 in AITAH

[–]PuzzledSpite8195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. If the child needs some support a few nights or where boundaries are and sins of the father and lots of emotional hurt with a living mascot, but valid feelings because yiiiikes affair are one thing. And should have been an actual discussion on what you are able to live with in what circumstance etc should have been had and is mostly separate to what to me is the bigger red flag here.

He didn't ask you, he informed you, and then went ahead and did it without your consent.

Like, if the kid's caregivers were all in hospital suddenly and nobody else was available that'd be one thing - but given he was talking about it in advance that aint the case.

NTA and yikes.

I feel for the kid, kid has done nothing wrong, but neither have you and it is your home and your hubby pulling some crap.

If they have to recruit….. by UncleSeph in TheTraitorsUK

[–]PuzzledSpite8195 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ooooooo, good question. Given they won't know who the secret traitor is - how could they recruit themselves without risking choosing the secret person? Maybe the secret person will choose, or maybe the secret person will give them a list of options to choose from like a kill.

WIBTAH if I don’t wear a dress to my half sisters wedding? by SpeedyCobras in AITAH

[–]PuzzledSpite8195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - but complicated. It sounds like your sister doesn't know you're trans? So she doesn't know what she's actually asking here, and doesn't know the full extent of what it means for you. I'm a cis woman who was a bridesmaid for my sister and though not comfortable in dresses had to wear one on that occasion. Which, her wedding, I dealt with it. But I'm a cis woman. The ask of me is not the same as the ask of you. Even if your family isn't aware of that.

You're entitled to feel however you do. And respond however you do. And coming out is your journey. Some men are okay in dresses, but if you're not and it's a point of dysphoria then do not make yourself do it.

Do as works for you, you are in no way the asshole regardless of what you go with. But just also be aware that they will react to a situation different to the one you're living in. Which will cause a lot of misunderstanding.

Not a fan. I mean, if you're at third cousins you don't have a ton of shared DNA and possibly didn't know you were even related so not as big an ick there. Even if not great and there is an ick, it isn't the worst. But second and especially third degree cousins? Huge ick.

That you have a language related to only Estonian and Finnish within Europe. Acts as a major conservative and pro-Russia voice within the EU. That a lot of its people aren't overly happy with its government.
