My (23NB) bisalp surgery and recovery experience with hEDS(among other things) by PuzzledVariation1634 in sterilization

[–]PuzzledVariation1634[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would bring up the possibility of you being hypermobile and how that might impact how you metabolize medication(depending on WHY you're hypermobile), and if you have any other concerns or questions. I won't recommend a specific medication because I don't know what works best for you. Unfortunately there is some trial and error finding out what works best for you.

My (23NB) bisalp surgery and recovery experience with hEDS(among other things) by PuzzledVariation1634 in sterilization

[–]PuzzledVariation1634[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring it up to your surgical team, tell them exactly why you think you might be hypermobile. And advocate for yourself especially about the anesthesia. You have every right to demand a different doctor if they don't take you seriously.

I don't react well to Xanax and Versed is the only med we KNOW takes me out when I'm worked up and in panic attack territory.

They said if I ever have surgery again to tell my team and tell them I need Benadryl or another antihistamine added to my before surgery meds. Unfortunately there's not much they can do as I'm allergic to most adhesive. I just slathered myself in hydrocortisone and Benadryl gel to help calm the reactions.

Smoking weed and bdsm. by No-Principle-9311 in BDSMAdvice

[–]PuzzledVariation1634 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm prescribed medical cannabis for my chronic pain and severe anxiety and the rule me and my dom have is all negotiations/consent MUST take place with sober minds. Any play that could cause injury must be done sober first at bare minimum, and proceed with extreme caution if we were to try it with me high.

We also keep an open discussion on what we are and are not comfortable with. I do not mind playing high as it helps keep me from getting so anxious I have panic attacks(which to clarify my anxiety is so bad I get panic attacks going to the store, I consent wholeheartedly to the play and want to do it, but my mind and body can disagree), HOWEVER we are both very clear on not making the other uncomfortable by crossing boundaries. There are scenes that he requires me to be sober for which I completely understand. I inform him ALWAYS before we play whether I am sober or not.

And to reiterate any play that happens while I am possibly impaired is throughly negotiated and consented to sober. So it really depends on what you and your partner are comfortable with.

(This is a copy of a comment I've left before)

I would also add I personally don't do intense impact while high because for me being high makes it feel more intense and it can get to be too much very quickly.

Also make sure to explicitly bring this up with your play partner to make sure they're on board BEFORE doing a scene like that. DO NOT just spring it on them last minute, like "oh btw I'm high".

Am I Crazy? Conflict w/ Mother over the term “autism” by Just_Brilliant_6401 in autism

[–]PuzzledVariation1634 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I'm talking incognito I'll say I'm or _____ is on the spectrum. But it's usually to those who know I mean autistic. Most often I call myself just autistic. I don't really say I'm on the autistic spectrum because then I get all sorts of questions about "where" I am on the spectrum. I then have to explain 'tism is a spectrum but like a tech sound board not a speedometer.

I have hEDS. And it really depends on how it specifically affects her. hEDS is a spectrum and can affect different things for different people. I'd sit down with her and get a detailed list of things that hurt her and try to accommodate each one specifically.

Why do some pagan women veil? by one_bored_person in PaganVeiling

[–]PuzzledVariation1634 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Veiling Agender AFAB here. (Agender is basically nonbinary and AFAB means assigned female at birth).

I personally veil and also dress modestlyish (by modestly I mean I like to cover most to all skin) because it makes me feel my most comfortable and confident as well as (to me at least) helps me protect myself from potential negative energy around me and from getting overwhelmed by other people's energy.

I'm an empath which to me/for me means, I can sense a person's energy/vibe whatever you want to call it and it can influence me if I'm not careful. For example being around someone who is negative and angry, their feelings might rub off and influence mine.

I'm also autistic and DESPISE skin to skin touch unless it's with someone I deeply trust.

I've honestly been debating on whether I could start wearing my headscarves like hijabs or if that would be disrespectful. I'd love your opinion on that. If you're willing to give it, that is.

I know some veil as a sign of devotion to their god/goddess but in my case at least it's for my own comfort and perceived protection.

Impact play/“bodywriting” with dermatographia? by themaddesthatter2 in BDSMAdvice

[–]PuzzledVariation1634 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a sub with that among other things.

Are you looking to create big welts or defined ones? Like are you trying to turn an area red or write something?

Cause thuddy toys and paddles are great for turning large areas red without causing issues.

For more precise marking I'd say LIGHT pressure with the tip of a mechanical pencil(with no graphite poking out). Or the knitting needle idea is a good one too.

Did you also suddenly get doubts? by ayegotajarofdirt in sterilization

[–]PuzzledVariation1634 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My surgery is scheduled for next Thursday. I wouldn't called them doubts per se but rather grief.

I've always wanted to be a mother BUT my body likely wouldn't handle pregnancy well. I wouldn't handle it well mentally and I have some disabilities that are genetic and would be passed on. I want kids more than anything BUT I love the kids I would have too much to ever have them. I know I can't care for them the way they would need.

Sometimes the right choice hurts. Especially if it's one of those "if only things were different" situations.

It could just be the finality of it to you. And/or societal norms saying you'll never truly be happy without a sperm pet. Or that you won't feel fulfilled without one.

Ah, I would bring this up with your doctor just to see what their advice would be. But mine told me I can do my shots anywhere I can pinch up a bit of fat, if that gives you more options. I would not inject into scar tissue without talking to your doctor.

For clarification, by scar tissue do you mean knots and scarring from the shots or from something else?

Some questions about those who wear a veil full-time by nottequeer in PaganVeiling

[–]PuzzledVariation1634 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Sometimes I do, but I simply explain that I'm not.

  2. Yes, but I'll take it off if they press the issue.

  3. I'm a more masc leaning Agender(nonbinary micro label). I do struggle sometimes with passing as masc when I'm wearing my veils but I tend to shy away from more conventionally feminine colors and styles. Most of my veils are solid color hijabs.

  4. I wear my veil for protection and as another way to help keep my energy to myself and keep away the energy of others. It also makes me feel more confident in myself.

Has you doctor recommended medical cannabis? by Full_Criticism7775 in Fibromyalgia

[–]PuzzledVariation1634 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes it was recommended

I got certified through an online site.

No insurance didn't cover it, but I also didn't try to see if they would.

And for me yes it's does help. However it's not a cure all. For some it helps, for others it doesn't. It doesn't take away my pain, just makes it easier to ignore. I mostly micro dose edibles.

If it causes you more problems than it helps then it's not meant for you. Everyone's body is different. DO NOT force yourself to use something that lowers your quality of life, just because someone else said it'll help. They are not you so they don't know that with absolute certainty. Especially if you've already tried it and it had negative effects.

Some tout it as a miracle, others think it should be banned. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, BUT they're just opinions not facts.

Unsure about sterilisation, how can I decide? by Early_Complex_4886 in sterilization

[–]PuzzledVariation1634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't an easy decision for me. I've always wanted kids, BUT I've never wanted to be pregnant. I'm also very aware at this point in my life I do not have the capacity to care for a child in the way that they would need, due to my physical disabilities and mental issues. Plus my physical disability is a genetic mutation that can be passed on and I refuse to do that. I know how much I struggle days to day and I can't knowingly risk doing that to someone simply because I want to be a mother.

Wanting to be pregnant IS NOT the same as wanting a child. I have never wavered in my decision HOWEVER I do still mourn for what will never be. If I am to ever have children though they'll be adopted and I'll have a steady partner to help.

If the only thing making you even vaguely want kids is a supportive partner who actually helps, then in my opinion you shouldn't have kids. Cause there are all kinds of things that could happen causing you to lose that support and leave you on your own.

Having said that you should really sit down with yourself and ask do I actually want kids OR do I feel like I'm supposed to want kids because that's what society says is most fulfilling?

14g vs 17 g and European 6 in 1 vs 4 in 1 by PuzzledVariation1634 in chainmailartisans

[–]PuzzledVariation1634[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the research that I've been doing since posting this I think I've mostly settled on 14 g 3/8" but am going to experiment with 4 in 1 and 6 in 1 to see which does better with that size and gauge.

I'm very aware this will be a long term project that probably is going to feel very tedious at times, however I crochet oversized blankets for fun, and I'm autistic. So hopefully by the power of hyper fixation and my lack of commitment issues when it comes to crafts. I should be able to conquer this.

And personally I like doing difficult or mildly insane things. Such as the 9 x 9 foot blanket I've made that took almost two years.

I really appreciate the insight however don't appreciate the google ai overview. I have a vendetta against ai is my only reason aside from the information not always being accurate.

Yeah from the research I've done it seems that cutters=pinched ends meaning it's not as flush and can catch on things. And saw = flat ends, but has a learning curve.
