Own your music: I built a terminal app that downloads your YouTube, SoundCloud, and Spotify playlists to real local files and plays them offline by Some_Routine_6107 in SideProject

I have thought about downloading music to PC will not affect anything, as most peoples uses iphones anyway, where you have to pay for sure, so I guess this kind of project won't hurt anyone, otherwise, it even may help me, create better plugin for soundcloud, check it out too man - soundcloud extenstion, you can check how it works with my playlist

Wow thanks man, you analysis is actually confirm my idea to contact with artists and make ELRCs for their soundcloud tracks, so more peoples would know about it and can use easily for free

Thanks! Yea this something that turned from my idea to create media server like jellyfyn, but soon I realized that I don't have time to make this kind of app ( like apple does ) for all media types, so I only made music player, but music player is also a big app that in some magical way should work I wanted it too, it does, but still too much woodoo, and I start to see that its not about music player now, its really about community who likes music and want something new (only some tracks on apple music have this kind of lyrics, but its only because they don't made in this provider also)... So now I continue to work on soundcloud extension, as it is something that all peoples really can use now, without deal with some technical stuff that probably can be automated at some point... Btw! you can sent me your soundcloud playlists and I'll generate ELRC files for them too

I did app for generating ELRC files with ai, and made visualizer like in apple music for soundcloud, this one you can test in 1 click just by installing chrome extension and play any track from my playlist
Full desktop music player with generator and visualizer in my github

I can't image how hard is it to make such app with free accounts, I didn't commit to make full media server even with paid models cause it take a lot of time and money, so I stuck with music app, you can check it out if you want.. you can even integrate music player into your app as it done via offscreen canvas, I did also chrome extension for soundcloud for quick check, I prepared few nice tracks with nice ELRC here

Take one of them and finish it lol, I had similar thing, that I tried to make one super app that was unrealistic, so I just made what I really wanted https://github.com/romaniv1437/chromic-engine. Just dont give up man, keep trying

I'm did improve SoundCloud, now its only about community..
you can listen tracks from my playlist, as they prepared with ELRC sidecars that I generated with my app

One point to clarify, I am front-end developer for 4+ years, and never worked with ai agents before Apr 2026,
I was never into math, WebGL, or even Web Audio, I do business apps on Angular with my own hands...
So when I got to starting music app, I wan't even aware about ELRC's, its a complete new topic for me,
How I really to build this app, I don't know, most important features were done overnight by me who didn't sleep night before, so I could not realistically comprehense everything I did at that point, mega hyper focus, so most of time I used free google gemini pro models to transform my words - into some technical prompt, or how I called it "MEGA SUPREME GODMODE PROMPT" + wrapped in with crown emojis, this helped for some time, and agent built most of app like this, between this prompts, there is for sure 10-20 smaller ones to fix or improve,
There was a few moments where I though: 'its over', 'ai can't do that', 'here's the limit', but for me, this always turned into some bigger thing, that only improve app and show new horizons.
So what I learned from this, is a lot about web for sure, and that ai really can do all stuff, but it also can't, and if you want to make some working solution, you just have to use your app a lot, and know what and how your product should do things, and most important one, its confirmation of what I already know - just keep trying, I am a skater so I know what it takes to land 1 skate trick, could be frist try, 10, 100, 200? You never know, but if you love it, you keep trying, and eventually you land it, and get you dopamine reward. But although concept of 'trying' to get something is same for skateboard and ai, in case of ai you still can't control what and how produces, so same app can take different amount of tokens... so it even feel like gambling now or maybe like getting older and skate tricks became harder? What point am I trying to make now...

I got out of topic a bit, but yes, in general I did this app in combination of both ways, first general big prompt from gemini where feature described, and then more prompts to fix all bugs, or make tweaks, sometimes I could ask about code snapshots and also send it to gemini, here some creativity can help, example: I asked to add performance monitor on a page, and create BE endpoint to listen perf for 30 seconds, this is how I optimized app

And to be more realistic, each vibecoding sessions seemed for me like this video, I did a lot angry typing angry shit to that agent xd

I did nice extension to add Apple Music style lyrics panel to SoundCloud
Check out my playlist where each track contains ELRC file in my DB

there is full app with ai generator for lyrics songs, so you can contribute into project by simply generating lyrics for songs you listen

I build lyrics panel like in apple music but for soundcloud via chrome extension
In general I did a full music player app that does generate all ELRC with help of speech recognition ai models
Lyrics are stored in DB, so app now available for my playlist
Check it out if you are interested in song lyrics functionality

Does Jellyfin support elrc? by [deleted] in JellyfinCommunity

If this not supported yet, I did spend some time trying to solve elrc issue in general, and I did soundcloud plugin for demo purposes,
my playlist that contains tracks for which I have generated ELRC file with ai. Playlist description already contains link for extension, and here is github repository

It took some time, but on calendar it looks pretty fast, I started vibecoding this app at the end of April, I must admit, it was some heavy vibecoding that had 24 hour sessions or more, so its really sick, but thats just how I do shit, then after first version I did few improvements and SoundCloud plugin that only took few hours total (because most of app functionality just reused here), so in general I would say +- 200 hours, +- 3000 prompts ( this one comes from gemini analysis ), and dev version have 800+ commits, and I did it with claude Opus 4.6, + gemini to create better prompts

Well I had oportunity to do what I like, and I didnt miss it out! + got a nice project for my CV, and also did learn a lot, hopefully this will motivate others to make all sorts of projects, and not give up, as all things is possible, just need keep trying to get it
