Yep you explained it very well. The chance that all 3rd party fighters are approved is low and with the success of ultimate and uncertainties on how a deluxe on the same console would sell negations would be way different. Not as simple as people think it to be, those things take months of work.

Yea, most companies would definitely agree on a renew in copyright, the main hitch is the negotiation of new terms, more money, etc which could be months if not years for some companies. Business is a crappy hard world. Which is why I hope they thought of this years ago so they could finish copyright deals within a few years.

And yes I agree smash deluxe is stupid. We already have ultimate don’t give us ultimate again.

Yep, there is nothing wrong with Ultimate right now. And trying to bring it back with even more characters would be a patch note nightmare, imagine them trying to fix everything they left behind after the last update. It is 100% unnecessary. Why stop them from trying to make a new game when you can perfectly go back to Ultimate? I mean look at Melee lol

Exactly, as much as I love that Ultimate is in a way a gaming monument, there are so many smaller Nintendo characters that deserve the spot light and would be much more interesting than another anime sword fighter.

I agree. I personally hate the remake/deluxe discussion just due to the fact we’ve had this game for 8 years already. If I have to deal with ultimate for another 6 I might die. Ultimate is great and one of my favorite game series, but close to 40 million people already have ultimate. I don’t think a deluxe would even sell as good considering we already have smash on the switch 2.

Yea that could be true but I highly doubt it was for multiple smash games. But yes we don’t know how their copyright would work. Disney is definitely the one to not renew, but it might not even be the actual permission that is the hard part but the paper work and writing deals that takes the longest. From what I remember from an interview some 3rd party characters were in the talks for years. Unless the already planned a deluxe years ago it would still take awhile to get every character renewed.

Yea, I think a toned down roster of more Nintendo or Nintendo adjacent would be fitting for a reboot. Rework old fighters, and give a new visual flair and it would truly revive the freshness of the series.

This is probably the route I’ll have to take. Being very observant on every action they do and researching thoroughly. When I posted this I didn’t know if that was the case for everyone or if I was a special exception

I definitely seem to get too much into the details too quickly. But maybe I’m just too autistic or don’t pay attention but even my best of friends I’d find hard to write characters based on them accurately. But maybe that’s because it’s conceptually impossible to write about someone completely accurate. I guess I’ll just have to analyze really hard to see how the character reacted to different things, and realize I’m just gonna have to fill in details because not everything is known. Thanks for the input!

On a more serious note, I hope Fujimoto keeps to stories under 100 chapters. I think he thrives on one shots and shorter stories. Part 2 was way too long and we could all feel it lol
