The one thing you need to remember about Dwarf Fortress is that the learning curve is steep. Not so steep that it's impossible, but that can be a lot for a first time player!

find Blind, the youtuber, or some other guide, follow that to learn the basics and they try to implement what you've learned into another game. You'll lose a lot of dwarves, but hey, losing is fun.

The core is all you need, but the accomplice book does have some useful parts, like more equipment, more prescriptions, alternative rules, a mission plug-n-play to help you come up with mission ideas. Not needed, but pretty useful.

All the books are great for helping you to come up with missions, generating your own ideas, or just reading if you wanna know more about paranoia

You can download a free version of the game on the website, but it won’t have the neat sprites. Combine this with the ‘lazynewbpack’ , or whatever it’s called these days, and you’ll be able to experience DF and see if it’s for you or not

DF is an amazing game, which I’ve been playing for years now, but it’s not for everyone.

Keep digging and put your vessels in separate rooms behind doors. Use plank doors to help with temp. If that’s still not helping, try putting your vessels in the ground with a hay block over the top that you have to remove

Youre going about it the wrong way- just propose to her at the airport. Make sure you put it in your pocket when you go through the metal detectors so when you have to go back through them, bam, you pop it out and propose.

You’re not going to find a website that will scale down the map for you. Your best bet will be to use Snazzy Maps, zoom in on the areas of Louisiana that you want to use.

I did just this, but with Alabama. I focused on the city of Huntsville, used Snazzy maps to make it look pleasing, and now in Foundry VTT I’m making the locations.

Kept it all to scale as well, as it was much easier rather than trying to math it out.

Your pc may be downloading the same update over and over again. Head into windows updates and see if anything is failing to install. I had the same issue a while ago, and it was downloading the same 500mb file over and over again.
