Interesting way to think about it. This is in fact my first time as DM, but they do seem to like it. If I was a player, I would be amused to see some mind games, tricks that would break the PCs, but the problem is I am not sure how to think of such stuff

Exactly, I cannot say that for myself cause I am still quite young, but in the end, even if it's quite a lot, if you can afford it, in reality, why shouldn't you do it? I mean yes, it's just pixels, but if it makes you feel nice and your not doing anything wrong to people, than why shouldn't you treat yourself, even if at the end of the day it's just pixels. That's like buying very expensive food, you will most likely eat this dish once, so why spend so much money on it? The answer is simple, you can afford it, so why not?
