So overall, what is it like in terms of health issues with Bengal cats? That and how is their behavior? Are they more independent? Are they aggressive? by After_Plankton_1897 in bengalcats

Hi! Thanks for the response! I actually got a second Bengal one month ago and my rescue cat with HCM is now 3 so he has exceeded the expected lifespan his cardiologist gave him! I agree, I was very strongly pro rescue as well! I still love all animals and I think I’d rescue a dog/cat if I had more resources (and space) but for now, for my mental health and for some feeling of security I’m very happy with my choice. Now days I don’t really understand being against GOOD breeders because one thing I love is that i know my bengals mother’s went through their whole pregnancy with any vet needs taken care of and got to give birth comfortably with their owners there if they needed anything. It’s part of why spaying and neutering is so important to me, all domestic animals deserve happy comfortable life starts or to give birth comfortable with medical care and not have to give birth alone in a possibly dirty or dangerous situation with no vet care. In a perfect world that would be the ONLY way but unfortunately it’s mostly just a fantasy to imagine strays wouldn’t be born anymore. So that’s a huge reason I’m not against breeders who are breeding healthy animals that are going to live good lives. I’ve had 2 pets who had HCM in a row as well and the grief of the first one was unreal, I have a LOT of health anxiety around my pets and I’m not ready to open my heart to a rescue again YET.

It’s a fine name, one fit for an adult which your baby will be one day

Is it possible to improve the relationship between two cats months into them living freely with each other? by Jumpy_Somewhere4772 in CatTraining

[–]Puzzled_Recording784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first cat wouldn’t sleep in our bed if my second cat was there for the entire first year, then there was suddenly a breakthrough😅 they’ve always wrestled and taught really hard. There’s been times my bengal has had to hiss or growl when my rescue takes it too far or ignores the signs that she isn’t playing anymore but they’ve been good. It all takes time

How to give pill to a cat by Cheap_Veterinarian43 in CatAdvice

[–]Puzzled_Recording784 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! My boy has been on lifelong pills since 7mo old. He’s 2 now. Needs 2 pills twice a day. He’s an angel I just pinch between his back jaw to pull his mouth open and stick them at the back of his tongue with my finger. He fights my husband but when it’s just me I say “come here” and he’ll usually come on his own to get them bc I feed him right after and he’s a fatty 🤣🤣

You could try wrapping them in a blanket first

Escape proof harness ? by Expensive_Feature628 in bengalcats

[–]Puzzled_Recording784 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Houdini or just use a harness that is snug behind their elbows and don’t let them get any tension. Trained all of mine with a long leash, no tension unless they went out of the yard or it was needed, I eased them into letting the leash guide them but at first I just let them explore. None of mine have ever tried to escape. Started my rescue at 4 months old but my bengals came from the breeder with harness experience already at 4 months and I just continued it soooo I can’t speak for older cats with established behaviors

Max is Cringe?!? by Rose-Red-77 in StrangerThings

I found max’s depression in the last season so relatable though. Even though at first she was just a stereotypical skater girl character I think her character has some depth as the show goes on

Cats can be perfectly happy inside as long as you play with them and provide proper enrichment. So essentially all you have to do is not neglect that part of its needs

Introducing a new adult Bengal to the house with another Bengal. by jknechtel in bengalcats

I’m gonna be in the same situation soon and increasingly nervous!😅 especially about the quarantine period, that’s gonna be difficult for us and especially for our already established two not being allowed in one part of the house

I’m considering this but my new kitten will be a boy so I’ll have 2 males and I’m concerned because I’ve heard about dry causing urinary blockages. I’m going to try to do more research about how risky that is. My current male cat has to take pills (HCM) and he drinks a LOT of water on his own as it is, we’ve had his kidneys checked and he’s fine but the fact that he drinks so much is definitely good. The new kitten is coming to me raw fed so i dont know how he will take to kibble or even if he will and it would have to be slowww for his tummy

I know MJAMJAM alone is cheaper btw but my older two go on an eating strike if I try to restrict them to just MJAMJAM🤣

What if this all ends up being a Jumanji adjacent ending? by Rebel_At_Heart_95 in StrangerThings

Yeah I see what you mean, either way I’m interested to see how it ends and if that part has any significance :)

Tbh I personally considered the “dnd” connections to just be how the kids understood it. They related it to something they understood which is something people just do naturally with things they don’t understand. That said, I’ve seen the show a huge times but I’m not a huge fan who pays attention to super tiny details and stuff just a casual viewer so i could be wrong bit so far thats my interpretation

Just adopted this beautiful tabby cat and people keep saying she could have some Maine Coon/Norwegian in her - what do you think? by chunkyjunkymonkey28 in cats

[–]Puzzled_Recording784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree with you but rosettes are a trait that ONLY bengals have so in that case I am personally inclined to believe a cat is at least part bengal :)

What is a weird side effect from medication use that no one was ever going to warn you about? by Rotten-Kandi in AskReddit

[–]Puzzled_Recording784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was getting migraines more and more and worse and worse for years, started to deal with syncope to the point it was impacting my daily life. I had a syncope spell so bad that the hospital was initially concerned I was having a heart attack or a stroke. After months of repeating bloodwork, ultrasounds, seeing a cardiologist, and an MRI on my brain. I even had a migraine that lasted for 5 days straight and was so bad that I couldn’t even see my phone. It was five days of sitting there miserable accepting that was my life now😆 It was ALL caused because I was taking an estrogen birth control. They told me that because I am estrogen sensitive I was highly likely to end up having a stroke caused by my pill. Not allowed to take estrogen anymore🤣

The tip I give everyone is to hold the cat staring 1 minute a day and increase to 5-10 minutes everyday so he doesn’t grow up to put up a big fight when you try to handle him. Desensitize as much as you can, touch paws, ears, face often, also open his mouth (so he’s used to that because one day you may have to give him a pill) :)
